How To Give To Others This Year

For many people nowadays, the cost of living and simply existing in this world can be a daily struggle. In a time where there’s a lot more suffering in the world, it can be a beacon of light to have others help out.

As a household or as an individual, every one of us can make a difference to those who need help and support. With that being said, it’s important to give to others this year so that hopefully the year ahead is a lot less bleak for more people.

Donate to charity

A great way of giving back to others is to donate. Most charities rely on the support of the public in order to exist and not every charity has the financial backing of a government or business. With that in mind, getting donations from the average household can be crucial for those who utilise these services.

Think about what charities need the support of financial aid and start donating every month where possible.

Volunteer for those in need

When it comes to volunteering, it’s all about sacrificing the free time available in order to do something good for others. Volunteering is a selfless act that everyone should do at least once in their lifetime.

Volunteering doesn’t need to take a lot of time out of someone’s day and for some, time may be limited anyway. If there are any local food banks or shelters that need support then it can be good to help out where possible.

Help out a neighbour

It could be an older neighbour who needs help with their weekly shopping or it may be a young adult that’s struggling to socialise within the community. Helping out a neighbour is often something that many don’t think to do. A lot of society has changed to become more introverted when it comes to interacting with their neighbours.

While it may be an assumption that you never know who you could be living next door to, nine times out of ten – they’re good people.

Pay it forward

Ever heard of paying it forward? It’s a great way of giving back to people that you don’t know. Whether it’s paying for someone’s shopping at the checkout, to helping out someone who is struggling with a pram on public transport. Every gesture whether that involves money or not is a great way of paying it forward. By doing one act of kindness, it often creates a ripple effect.

Be kind

There is a lot of nastiness in the world and while it may take very little energy to be kind, many decide to go the opposite route and be cruel.

This is particularly the case when it comes to the online domain. With trolls in abundance, it’s becoming more commonplace to be cruel than to be kind. Being kind costs nothing and can make a big difference in a person’s day.

Giving to others this year should be something we all try more actively to do. Make a conscious effort to help others this year where you can.

Sharing is caring!
