One thing a period of self-isolation is giving us is the gift of time. We have no more excuses as to why we cannot declutter, tidy the spare room or sort out our fitted wardrobes. I am sure many of us are thinking of all the jobs in the home that we have been putting off. I have written a list of jobs that I have been meaning to tackle that I will now have the time to do.
One thing to remember is that it doesn’t all need to be done today and tomorrow but if we tackle a drawer or cupboard each day we will soon have made a big impact on our list.
Organising your wardrobe takes a bit of time but you will appreciate the effort afterwards and will probably find clothes that you had forgotten about! Many clothes look their best when hung on proper hangers in closets that aren’t overcrowded. Other clothes benefit from being neatly folded, did you know that https://urbanwardrobes.co.uk/services/walk-in-wardrobes-and-dressing-rooms allow you to personalise your space your way.

Empty the wardrobe
Start by emptying the wardrobe and looking at each piece you own. I always suggest three piles at this point. Things you wear regularly, things that you haven’t worn for a while and things that you haven’t worn in a year (providing it is not seasonal).
Unworn clothes
With the unworn clothes I then look at what I could sell, my teenagers often have designer brands so these are easy to sell on. I list these on Facebook Marketplace or Ebay first. If they don’t resell then they can go to the charity shop along with the other items in the haven’t worn pile.
Seasonal clothes
I store seasonal clothes in ziplock bags which I can then put away under the bed rather than overloading my wardrobe. This frees up space ensuring that I can see what I have hanging up.

Everyday staples
The Ikea wardrobes offer many storage solutions based on what you need. You can create the perfect wardrobe for you and your requirements. I hang my women’s trousers using wooden hangers as this keeps them in the best condition. Jeans and cargo trousers can be folded as they are made of thicker materials.
Jumpers can be folded and stored in piles, they don’t need to be hung. Shirts are best off hanging up and they need to have space between hangers in order to keep them crease-free.
Now is a great opportunity for decluttering, sorting out your fitted bedrooms and once it is done you will feel much better for it. It will be easier to manage your wardrobe and your belongings.
