Continuing the travelling with children theme I have been sent some innovative products to help make life that little bit easier when travelling. The ‘Me Finder’ is a digital wristband that stores up to five phone numbers. If your child gets lost they need to ‘show‘ the band to a safe adult ‘tell’ them to call mummy or whoever they are with. In this modern age with almost everyone owning mobiles it should mean that any lost children are very quickly reunitied. I am sure that we have all heard the call in supermarkets that can so so come to customer service.
It always amazes me how many frantic parents I see on beaches that have lost sight of their child, or the child crying because they panic and don’t know what to do.
The wristband comes in a range of designs to appeal to both girls and boys.
The band is also water resistant meaning it is ideal for pool and beach aswell as everyday shopping trips and even playing at the park.
I found the ‘me finder’ easy to programme and even though Dylan had a good fiddle with it he wasn’t able to reset or mess it up. Therefore that gave me piece of mind that it would do its job. The Me Finder website also gives some valuable advice including a video demonstration. One pice of information which I think is very important is about teaching your child who is a safe adult. Children are often quite clued up about stranger danger but may not have the skills to decide who is safe. I have always taught my older two that another mummy with children is a good person to ask. Secondly someone that is in a uniform for the place you are in, eg the shop worker in the shop you are in. The website also highlights teaching your child what the safe adult will and will not do, for example they will stay with you. They will not take you near a car or out of the place you are at. This is also great advice and isn’t something I ever covered with my two. However it is something I will teach Erin.
The Me Finder will give parents that extra piece of mind- obviously it is not intended to replace good parentimg and watching your child like a hawk – but I am sure many of us have been there when we have lost sight of our child. How sick you feel as the panic fills up your throat. This product is just another tool to help us parents ensure that we take every precaution to keep our children safe.
The ‘Me Finder’ costs £14.99 which I think is a great price especially if you compare it with the paper versions that you can buy but would quickly get through on a holiday.

Ah, therein – as Shakespeare said – lies the rub. Well, not about the concept of the ‘safe’ adult, but you know what I mean. I like your approach; makes perfect sense and I think I’ll be adopting a similar strategy myself.
I think this is an excellent piece of kit. I wish they made something this simple but aimed at adults. My Dad has dementia and just recently he’s begun to wander off if we take our eyes off him for a second. We have to keep the doors locked at all times but the other day he managed to find the keys and let himself out of the front of the house while I was hanging washing int he back garden. He had made it as far as the bus stop by the time I caught him and he was chatting happily to some poor chaps who were doing a transport survey and who obviously wondered what the heck this strange man was on about! If there was an obvious adult style ‘me finder’ that stored phone numbers and other details I would definitelyu buy one for Dad!
