The sun was shining as we arrived at Whittlebury Hall last Monday for a spa break. I love the school holidays and being with the children but Lee and I have very little time on our own and it was lovely to be planning a night away in the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside. On arrival I was impressed with the location and couldn’t wait to have a look about.
After checking in at the hotel reception we made our way across to the spa facilities. There was a quick tour and introduction before we found ourselves relaxing in the Heat and Ice experience. I love spa’s and immediately chilled out. There was plenty of fruit infused water, fresh fruit and flannels with bowls of ice to keep hydrated as we experienced the different rooms. We enjoyed a few hours in here and the foot spa was especially blissful!
The pool area was busy (it was a Bank Holiday Monday) and therefore I wasn’t able to get a reclining chair / lounger until later in the afternoon despite there being some empty but ‘saved’ with towels or robes.
Lee went off to use the gym for an hour which he said was quiet and fully equipped. I had planned to join him but was so relaxed by then I didn’t find the motivation!!
After checking into our room we were greeted with some lovely snacks and a magazine to read. I was [pleased that we were able to walk from the spa to our room and I could get showered and dressed in our room rather than in the changing room.
The view from our room was lovely and added to that tranquil feeling that had washed over me since arriving. I was tempted by a facial and there was availability, even on the day, if I had so wanted to indulge.
After showering we decided to go and sit downstairs in one of the lounge areas which was lovely. We stole an hour away as I read and Lee people watched. Then we headed to the bar for a drink before dinner. The bar was lovely and we could quite happily have stayed and eaten in there rather than the dining as it was such a good bar. The staff were attentive and we had some lovely nibbles that took the edge of our hunger. Dinner was pre booked in Astons and the menu looked appetising. My only issue here is that it is fine dining but the room is huge and it was busy. I did feel that I lost some of the exclusiveness I had felt all day. However the food was good and looked amazing.
After a great nights sleep we headed down for breakfast which again was served in Astons. Breakfast was a real hit and I enjoyed a full English with yoghurt and fresh coffee. We could have chosen to stay and use the facilities until 11am but decided to head back after breakfast feeling, refreshed, revitalised and ready for the day.
Whittlebury Hall has various spa packages available and we really enjoyed our break. There were lots of couples there which suited us as it was Lee’s first spa break and he was feeling a little apprehensive before arriving however he really enjoyed it all and I don’t think it will be his last spa break!
Disclosure: We would like to thank Whittlebury Hall for having us stay as there as their gusts. The review is all my own words and opinions.
Sharing is caring!

Ooh it looks so lovely! We managed a night away as a couple over easter too – so important to have a bit of time to yourselves sometimes isnt it!
It sounds like a great getaway and also as f they need to try and create some areas in the restaurant to allow people to feel more cosy and secluded. Mich x
Ooooh – lovely. We’ve only ever managed one night away without kids and I’m already feeling desperate for a chance to reconnect and relax together somewhere.
Ooh lucky you, I’ve heard good things about Whittlebury Hall before but never had the opportunity to go myself. I’ve been looking for somewhere for a night away for my Hubby and myself as a joint getaway for our birthdays so this could be a good contender for our night away. Great review 🙂
Wow , it looks gorgeous Emma! What a lovely break for you both!
This looks lovely. Think I need to book a few days to Dave some chill time!
