I have a nineteen month old daughter who doesn’t walk and its driving me up the wall. It is not the fact that she doesn’t walk that is the biggest issue but also so many people asking me all the time. I have decided that although yes I would like her to be walking (carrying her is very heavy work) I am not going to get too anxious until she is two. Afterall you don’t see many four year olds crawling to school.
I do wonder if we are racing our children through the stages. We, as parents are so quick to tick of the devlopment milestones and compare our children. My gut feeling (and her dads) is that nothing is wrong. She is just taking her time!
We do gentle coaxing, but she just plops herself down onto the floor, She can and does climb the stairs, cruises around furniture and pushes herself on her sit and ride. Therefore she is weight bearing and can physically take her weight.

You’ve hit the nail on the head here; we do compare our children to other children the same age and really, we shouldn’t. One minute we’re saying our kids are all individuals then the next day we’re busy saying “why does so and so not do that,” etc. I suspect she’ll walk when she’s good and ready then you’ll be busy trying to keep up!!

My son was 22 months before he finally walked so there’s still plenty of time!
That is good to hear as she is much later than her brother and sister is.
My daughter, now 14yrs, was very slow to talk. We had all sorts of tests that showed nothing wrong. She just developed in her own way and in her own time x
