The staple food that we eat a plenty in our house is jacket potatoes. However we like them baked and not just microwaved as we like the skins crunchy. However they are not the quickest things to bake, imagine the scene after school clubs or a late work meeting. Its cold its dark and you and the children need to eat now. A jacket potato will do the job.
Research from McCain showed jackets really are the nations favourite with 64% of those surveyed eating them up to four times a week. I fit into that category but as I bake them for an hour it is not a quick tea.
Therefore I was intrigued by McCains Ready Baked Jackets. They are frozen oven baked potatoes that you pop in the microwave for five minutes but the have the same taste and texture of the oven baked variety. We tried them when we needed a quick tea and to be honest they did taste oven baked. The children couldn’t tell the difference and the skin was still tasty.
Whilst the ready baked jackets are going to cost more than the price of a potato they do provide you with convenience. I wouldn’t use them all the time but they are a great freezer staple. I also like the fact that Chloe can pop one in and get herself a healthy filling snack or lunch after dancing. I don’t like her using the cooker by herself and she wouldn’t have the patience to wait an hour after dancing!
Therefore for convience and taste they get the thumbs up from us.

These look really interesting. We too love jackets but hate the time they take when I get home from work at 7pm. Think I shall give these a go x
Just saw these yesterday in the supermarket and was curious to see whether there were any reviews on them – sounds as if they are a good thing to have on standby for quick meals
