Role Model

Clutching a letter in his hand adressed to ‘The parents of Dylan ‘ always leaves me with a bit of trepidation.  Thankfully this letter informed us that Dylan had been chosen to be a role model for a new pastoral group the teacher was starting.  I was a little taken a back as although I know how much he has grown up and matured this year he is still the same boy who accidentally on purpose flooded the school toilets last year.

Anyway he came out of school on Friday brandishing a sticker for doing well in the group.  I asked him what they had done – he replied just filled in a sheet about what we would do if things happened.  Oh and we talked about people that help us and I had to tell people what I would do.

‘Right’ I said ‘did you learn anything from this’

Quick as a flash he replied giggling ‘I learnt this is a great way to get out of literacy!’

Ummm not sure that is a role model type of thing to say!
