Safari Tales Ipad Review

Lazy mornings are pretty much the norm in our house.  When we were recently in Spain none of us were waking up until 11am, we had late evenings and even later mornings.  Even Erin at five enjoys her bed and lie-ins she has been a child that has liked her sleep since day dot.  Now we are home we are getting up a little earlier and Erin generally wakes about 8.30am however she enjoys having that quiet time in bed waking up gently before the day starts.  Where I may turn to my iphone and check emails etc Erin is allowed to go downstairs and get the ipad and have 30 mins on it in her room.  When she is not watching some of her favourite programmes she is playing some of her ipad app games.

Earlier in the year we reviewed Dino Tales and we were pleased to see that now Safari Tales has been released as it’s sequel.  The game is currently the No. 1-selling Kids App and Education App in iTunes, and No. 3 overall!

Safari Tales is an enchanting animal adventure game which encourages exploration in reading and vocabulary skills by casting the player as both adventurer and storyteller. Children join five baby animal friends as they explore a vast African savannah teeming with wildlife, mini games to master and artefacts and relics to discover and collect. Throughout their in-game adventures, kids learn countless facts and figures about the various environments, their inhabitants and items they encounter on their way, building knowledge and enhancing reading skills.

At the end of each play session, Safari Tales uses patented technology to convert children’s adventures, discoveries and achievements into an incredible interactive storybook. Each new tale can be saved and stored to be read over and again with parents and loved ones, strengthening literacy, reasoning and enquiry skills.

So what did we think?

The game is aimed at children aged 4-10 and it has parent controls in place that you can select how long at any one time the child can play for.  I quickly set this up to our requirements and let   Erin try the game out.  Erin enjoys the creative side of decorating her animals, she made the elephant spotty with her favourite colours!

Erin joyed learning about the different animals and collecting the stickers that you are awarded.  This app combines stories with adventures and as such is a great educational game.  I know some are critical that apps are taking away from reading.  However I think these apps have a great place within the whole education of a child.  We use both traditional books and interactive games like this.  It suits how Erin learns and will ultimately give her the technical skills needed in modern society.

The app is available on iTunes priced at £2.99 and is available now click here to know more about Safari Tales
