The past year and a half have seen all of us spending a whole lot more time in our homes. This is due to the coronavirus and Covid-19 pandemic, paired with government guidelines that have been put in place to slow the spread of the virus. With many of us working from home, teaching our kids from home and spending all of our free time at home, our houses have taken a bit of a beating. They’re looking well used and well loved. So, what can you do to get things back under control and your home looking bright, clean, tidy and fresh again? Here are some suggestions to help you out!
Deep Clean
The first step on any home improvement journey should be a thorough and deep clean. Sure, we all do daily and weekly household tasks. But over time, there are areas that we tend to miss where dirt can build up. Sure, tackling them may not be fun. But you’ll find your home feels a lot cleaner and much more comfortable when you finally tackle them. One step to consider is cleaning your carpets. Every carpet goes through a fair amount of wear and tear on a daily basis. Mucky shoes, mucky pet paws and more. Dirt builds up and needs to be removed. The best way to do this is to use a professional carpet cleaner. You can either pay someone to clean your carpets for you, or you can hire out a machine and do it yourself. Just make sure to leave sufficient time for your carpets to dry before walking on them again.
New Furniture
New furniture can make a home feel completely new. Sure, you don’t want to constantly change your furniture, as this can be expensive. But as items wear down over time, or as you see new items that you love, why not invest? You’ll get plenty of use out of them! You can check Tylko’s shop to choose a chest of drawers to start out.
Redecorating
Redecorating is another good shout. Few of us redecorate on a regular basis, and this is understandable, seeing as it can take days to complete. But it is something that you should do once every few years. If your paint is looking a little dirty, dull or tired, a fresh coat really can make all the difference. Invest in some decorating essentials and dedicate a weekend to repainting a couple of rooms. Soon after, redecorate some more. Eventually, your whole home will be freshly painted and looking in great condition. If you are unable to redecorate yourself, don’t have the time or simply have an awkward house with high ceilings or nooks and crannies you can’t reach, you may want to call in professional painter decorators to get the job done to a high standard. We have a great post on creating a geometric wall design.
These are a few simple steps you can take. None should take all too long, but each can make a profound difference to your property!
