It’s starting to look like Christmas.

I love Christmas but until today I wasn’t really feeling it this year.  We have been so busy that I am not as organised as I usually am, having no internet means I am behind with my online shopping plans.  Coupled with struggling to find ‘perfect gifts’ I was feeling a little stressed by it all.  Last night we had our first Christmas night out with friends and had a great evening with good wine and good company.  It helped me relax.

Today I spent time with a glass of wine and Christmas music playing whilst putting the decorations up and now I am feeling more festive and on count down till the end of term (six teaching days for me)!  Dragging the tree from the attic and checking the lights still work is always a family occasion.  The children enjoy putting our two trees up as much as I do.  Even better is that we have some new decorations this year that make the tree look so pretty.

These fab decs are from Home Bargains which seem to be popping up everywhere at the moment. There are now over 290 stores so probably one near you! I love the colours and sparkle.

Creating a window dressing on a budget.

I always see window displays and love their warmth and welcome.  I think they look really stylish, classy and expensive.  Therefore I decided to have ago myself.  However I didn’t want to spend too much, afterall it’s only out for a few weeks a year.  However I did want it to leave it’s mark and have a bit of an impact on the living room.  I really like the white approach, simple, clean and effortless.  Therefore I decided to put some effort in and try to recreate an effortless window display.

The ‘NOEL’ word I bought a few years ago in the January sales.  They were just a cardboard letters so I painted them white and then the fronts in gold.  I really like them and look forward to having them out.  Erin, the little monkey, keeps changing the order of the letters around though!  When I asked her why she wanted L to be the leader and go first!  I also bought myself the white metal house tealight holder which looks expensive but it wasn’t, it was only £5.99 from Sainsburys and it really lights up the window.  The window stickers were a steal from Poundland of all places.

Since decorating I am beginning to feel the festive season. I just need my own fairy godmother to come and wrap for me, oh and if she could organise ordering my festive food  it would be appreciated.
