Stepping out!

Erin was ready for school academically but I worried about her physically.  Those worries are still there, each day I send her in with a hug and a kiss but I worry.  I think it’s hard for all parents but especially hard when preschool and toddlerhood has been beset with hospital appointments, medical emergencies and treatment plans.  Leg pains, bruised legs and tummy aches are par for the course here.  We knew we needed to make family changes for Erin to be successful at school and that included me changing career.

And successful she is.

She wanted to read and she is almost five, so ready for it.  I remember Chloe and Dyl learning to read but Erin is so much keener than they were.  Probably due to her older age but she is reading.  Just a few weeks after starting school she is reading and she is bringing words home that she can read.

It’s amazing and I am loving watching her. Maybe because I am freelance I have the time and energy to watch and enjoy.

Tomorrow will see me stepping back into the classroom for the first time in four months.  Yet rather than sixth formers it will be reception age.  I’m a little scared as to whether I will relate to them.  I’m only changing books and listening to readers but still I’m out of my comfort zone!

I have promised Dyl that I will steer clear of Yr6 as apparently that is not cool if your mum is in the same school!  But Erin is fair game and thisway I can see with my own eyes that she is doing fine!
