The traditional weekend job often is not practical for college or Uni students if they are involved in sports clubs that have matches on the weekend. When at uni my daughter trained and played first team hockey making it really difficult to find a suitable part-time job. Training limited her options but of course, she could have done with the money. Fortunately, she was able to work full time in the holidays which topped up her bank balance enough to last each term.

The pay varies massively, as a virtual assistant you can expect to earn about £10-15 per hour. If you have a specialised skill set then you could be earning up to £40 per hour, an example would be medical or legal transcription. As a blog writer, you could charge £25 for 750 words. It is good to research pay and make sure that you are not underselling yourself. But this shows that online typing jobs for students can be a better option than retail!

This can be a varied role where no writing day will be the same and can be quite lucrative as a way to earn money by typing.

This is where you would be hired and sent audio recordings, which you will then need to translate into the written word through typing. Finally, you could advertise yourself as a virtual assistant. This sort of typing job might involve sending out emails, data entry, or even updating websites. The job role will be varied and you can usually charge by the hour rather than per job.
