Updating a bathroom – the finishing touches

We always like to have a mini project on the go especially during the school holidays which is our time to catch up in the house and make the place sparkle a bit more!  This summer we don’t actually have any whole rooms to do, last summer we did Chloe’s bedroom which thankfully she is still happy with!   The lounge is on my ‘to do’ list but that will be a big job so will wait a bit longer, I am not really sure what colours to go for in there either and do not want to rush into it.  The garden is in definite need of a huge make over and I just don’t think we can tackle it yet – it is too much of a play garden but I have plans to transform it!

One of my favourite places is our main bathroom.  It is gorgeous and when we moved in we were lucky enough to inherit a jacuzzi bath and well planned and designed bathroom.  Even the tiles are my ideal choice, tiny small tiles in neutrals, creams and browns.  However I have decided to freshen it up a little and decided to see if this can be done on a small budget but have a big impact.

Therefore I made some smart purchases and gathered some ideas on what would have an impact.

Firstly I bought some new towels.  I choose a mocha colour as they compliment the tiles.  There is not much better than having a new bath towels to make you feel great after a bath!

Secondly I looked for a new bath mat. The choice was huge and there are bath mats for a variety of bathroom styles.  I settled on the claudia mat in mocha which gives with the other furnishings.

Next I used one of my new and lovely candles from aroma works, perfect for relaxing in the bath whilst reading or having a glass of wine.  Yes I really do that, remember it is a jacuzzi bath!  The candle promotes relaxation and promises to remove the days stresses.  It does just that and smells divine to!

Finally I bought some expensive looking bubble bath as it came in a pretty bottle.  I don’t plan on using it – it is just for the overall look!

My bathroom is still an oasis of calm – but now just a bit fresher!

  1. Emma, you are so blessed to have a jacuzzi tub in your bathroom. That must be absolute heaven during the winter. I agree that towels are a great way to update your bathroom. You can do any color you want and change the entire look of the bathroom. It’s practical and stylish all at the same time.
