On a journey the other day we had a conversation about what we would like to learn. I was explaining to the children that learning is life long (yes the teacher in me). On my list I included photography, cupcake making and decorating and sailing. A little varied but all things I would like to experiment with, as a teen I loved windsurfing but havent ever done it since. Photography is a much newer interest and I have taken some photos this summer on my new camera that I am really pleased with. I especially like the ones from our Trevella trip as there are some great shots of the children crabbing and fishing. Really I need to remove Chloe’s knees from this one -but hey I am making progress!
I am getting used to the different functions my camera has and ideally I’d like to go on a day course that teaches me how to get the best out of the camera. If I could fit it in before Disney next year it would be fab. I’m still in awe of bloggers who have amazing photos on their blogs. Those with close ups of their children, with the blurry backgrounds are one type of shot I’d like to master. My camera has so many different shooting options that I don’t yet know what all the buttons do.
Although I now take lots of pictures I don’t do much with them. Gone are the days of getting lots of prints actually printed and having albums. My photo albums are all virtual now! I have them on my laptop and use them in blog posts but that is about all. That is why I do like to use them on personalised gifts and invitations and so forth. We have had canvasses made in the past as gifts for the great grandparents, they are ideal as great grandparents don’t tend to need material goods but cute photos of the children are always appreciated!
This year I will be using our holiday photos to get some personalised calendars made as gifts. They will make good presents that are really cherished. I am impressed with the quality of these items now and even had a mug made for work. I used a pic of the children and now no one takes my mug -result.

I love that you used a mug with your kids pic on it and it stopped them taking your mug….I could have used that idea when i worked in an office!
