Who is Emma and 3?

I haven’t taken part in any Q & A blog posts in quite a while and I realise that this could mean newer readers don’t know much about me.  Therefore when the lovely Emma from Mrs Shilts tagged in a ‘Who am I’ post I decided to get involved.

When was the last time you cried?

I cry all the time! Seriously my kids laugh because I cry in most films even things like Paddington.  I cry when people do nice things for each other! I last cried last night watching Save Me!

If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?

I hope so because I hope I would see the good in myself.  I have a small group of friends, but when I commit to being your friend I am a real friend and I’d do whatever I can for you. I hope I’m the friend that others rely on.

Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Not really no. Apart from to the children about helping in the house!

What’s the first thing you notice about people?

Hair I think – I am always searching for that great style!

Scary movie or happy endings?

Always happy ending.  I can count the scary films I have watched on one hand.  Although I do like thriller type films.  I enjoy watching happy endings with Chloe when my husband and son are out.

Favourite smells?

As a child, it was car exhaust fumes which probably wasn’t the healthiest smell to enjoy.  I do like the smell of coffee and also I love the smell of Sunday lunch cooking.  I think it reminds me of togetherness and family days.

What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home?

Russia or Disneyworld – which is further I don’t know! I went to Russia on an exchange and was there for three weeks. It was life-changing for me and I think that is where my love of social history cemented itself.

Do you have any special talents?

I can do this weird shakey thing with my eyes but again I’m not sure its something you are supposed to do! My other talent is communicating with young people.  I know that I can chat rubbish and talk to even the most awkward of teenagers. It is what made me a great pastoral teacher.  Shame the admin side just bogged me down too much.

Where were you born?

Stroud – in a local hospital.  But my mum needed a flying ambulance team so that was exciting, not that I remember!

What are your hobbies?

Blogging for sure, although it crossed from hobby to main job a few years back.  It still feels like a hobby though which is good.  I am also enjoying getting fit again, running, lifting weights and my weekly PT sessions.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to be a nanny and was talked into teaching when I was young.  As a teen I toyed with the idea of writing but had no idea how to go about it.  I also considered probation and social services before settling back to teaching.

How many countries have you been to?

Not as many I would have hoped.  I will change that now that the children are getting older.  I have been to Russia, USA, Spain, Canaries, France, Greek Isands, Corsica,

What was your favourite/worst subject in school?

Favourite was always English until I discovered Sociology.  I disliked Maths and technical drawing stuff.

What is your favourite drink?

Prosecco always prosecco!

What would you (or have you) named your children?

They are Chloe, Dylan and Erin.  It drives Chloe mad that her name is so common in her year group but honestly we only knew one other Chloe when we decided on her name!  She would have been Dyylan if she was a boy and we kept to that for Dyl.  Erin was chosen by Lee.

How many boyfriends have you had?

Only a couple because I met my husband in the first year of University.  I had only about 3 boyfriends before him, one for a year, one for 18 months or so very on and off.

Favourite memory from childhood?

That’s a tough one, I have lots of family holiday memories with my grandparents who used to take us away.  They revolve around arcade games and chalets. I also remember playing tennis in the garden alot.

How would you describe your fashion sense?

Thrown together.  I just chuck things together and if I want an outfit for a special occasion I pretty much buy it as I see it in the shop, so if I see a dress and it is next to a matching jacket or shoes, I’ll just buy it all for ease!

Tell us one of your bad habits!

Picking at my fingernails, I do it all the time.  Also checking my phone every five mins.  Although I blame this on my job! When you are freelance you never want to miss a work opportunity so I am always checking online!
