I have a new best friend in my kitchen! My crock pot is already well used. As I drive home on the motorway I know that I will be greeted with the lovely cooking aromas as I cross the door. I have been throwing everything lovingly preparing good hearty traditional food that the children and husband are loving. I am a little surprised just how much they are loving it as I don’t remember feeling the same when my mum dished up casseroles. In fact lee and I refuse to them that they are meat with vegetables or whatever!
Last week I was sent a lovely selection of Old El Paso goodies I was really pleased to see lots of their new products including some casserole sachets that promised to add some kick to our meals.
The paprika and herbs added a lovely flavour to our chicken which we had with some roast potatoes and veg. It is great as I put it all in the crock pot at 7.30 am and it was cooked to perfection when I got home.
I have also cooked up some fajitas which is always a firm favourite in our house!
I love making a pot of chicken, onion and peppers up mix it with the old el paso fajita kit and it’s a meal made in minutes. We like ours with soured cream and dough balls! It is a really sociable meal as its all on the table and we just help ourselves and make up our wraps as we go. There is never anything left on the table!
The one pan rice meals are fab for the teen to do for herself. She has used them before heading out to her dance lessons. Again it provides a quick nutritious meal that gives her what she needs before doing a couple of hours of ballet, tap and modern!
