6 Time Saving Top Hacks for Keeping in Control of the Washing Pile

What is the most used appliance besides the cooker and fridge?  For us it is the washing machine and it works hard.  Not only are we a family of five and therefore wearing a lot of clothes each day my children are sporty.  Chloe trains about four times a week, more in the hockey season.  She owns as many gym clothes as she does ‘normal’ clothes.

Do you struggle with time? Then try my six time saving hacks by Emma at Emma and 3.

The gym clothes are put through their paces.  They come home smelly and well used, they often need a quick turn around and she wants them back fresh for the next day.  Dyl is the same with football kits and Erin a little more dainty with just her leotard.

Since getting the hot tub in the garden we are getting through more towels than I ever expected.  Therefore I have a routine for washing and keeping on top of the ever growing washing pile.

  • Create a routine for example I change the beds every Monday.  The children strip their beds as they get up every Monday morning. Towels are washed on Tuesday.
  • I use products that work hard. This includes Persil’s new magical gems which contain 100% active ingredients and disperse in the drum throughout the entire wash cycle, providing Persil’s ultimate washing experience.  They have an added Stain Removal. The Persil Powergems are packed with more stain removal power to help tackle stubborn stains this is perfect for gym wear. Care: The unique format of Persil Powergems is free from ingredients which can leave residue on fabric. This allows the product to care deeply for your clothes, helping them to stay as good as new for longer. Again this is a plus as we all want our favourite clothes to wash well and last longer. This helps clothes keep their colours. Freshness: Persil Bio Powergems uses fragrance release technology to provide an enhanced fragrance experience. This has become more important as the children have got older.  At first when children are small I liked clothes not to smell.  Now they are teens, the more fragrance the better!
  • I only iron what I really need too, which is shirts, school uniforms and a few dresses. Everything else is shaken well before being folded flat.
  • Ironing takes place every Sunday and I have a separate basket to keep those bits in throughout the week.
  • We have a multi basket and everyone has to put their dirty clothes in the right section either whites or colours.  this saves me time each day.
  • Finally enlist the children from an early age, I never put their clothes away.  Every other day their clean clothes are put in their rooms in a pile and they hang them up or place them in drawers.  Even Erin manages this and I know I am teaching them good habits.
