6 Ways to Let Go of the Myth of a Perfect Life

Almost all of us have got so overwhelmed by material success that we have almost forgotten what real happiness looks like. One common goal for everyone is to achieve true happiness in life. The only thing which holds us back from achieving our goals is simply and sadly is ourselves. You need to know life can be anything that either you hide from or something you embrace. Life could become pretty easy if you learned to release the limitations that hold you back and realise that there is no such thing as a perfect life.

Through coaching I am working on what matters to me and what I want to achieve in life. We put blocks in our way both mental and physical that can hold us back. I am currently struggling with imposter syndrome and I know that it holds me back. Therefore I am taking steps to recognise what I am good at and how that makes me feel.

I have set myself some ambitous goals for this year and I can’t wait to smash them. In order to do his I am challenging what I percieve to be the perfect life.

Some of the ways to let go of the myth of a perfect life:

  1. Approval of other people- You need to understand that it doesn’t matter what other people think; instead, you should focus on the things that make you happy with the decisions you make. Furthermore, you should know how much you can achieve if you didn’t pay attention to other people’s opinions. Instead, you should engage in whatever gives you happiness and make your life better. This can be really hard, as a people pleaser I have spent too long looking for approval and being distracted by what other people think is right for me. Now it time to reclaim me.
  1. Learn the difference between having wealth and being rich- Ideally, wealth is all about savings, property, and investment, and it is quite difficult to measure. On the other hand, being rich is all about having cash in the numerical value of income. When you look at one’s wealth is a greater reflection of the purchasing power of a person. In simple terms, when someone looks rich doesn’t mean the person is rich. Above all, it doesn’t mean when you get rich, you will get more happiness, mainly because we adjust the people we look up to.
  1. Understand where your true worth comes from- When you allow your self-worth to be tied up in how you look, you are missing out on how satisfying life can be when you genuinely love and accept yourself. True confidence doesn’t come from other people’s validation, like social media likes or verbal compliments. It is like drinking from a cup, which doesn’t ideally quench your thirst. No doubt it will make you feel better for a while, but then dissatisfaction will surely kick in at some point in time, and you might ideally be chasing something which is unattainable. When you build your confidence in things like kindness, inner strength, etc., then you stop looking for validation through the eyes of others. 1. Pessimistic body image- When it comes to your body, then the only person’s opinion, you should be concerned about is you. No one can determine your correct body type. If you are healthy and comfortable in your skin, then you should know it is the only thing that matters. You shouldn’t allow anyone to tell you are beautiful or not because the only thing that matters is you, and if you believe you are beautiful, then you are.
  1. Anger- The only thing that eats you from inside is your anger. You should learn to make peace with people who have done you wrong. It doesn’t mean you allow the person to be back in your life; all it means is that you have to alleviate the pain that resonates inside you. Additionally, you need to keep in mind the one who angers who also controls you. Hence you can make your life easy when you learn to accept an apology that you have never got.
  1. Jealousy- Happiness is all about wanting what you have instead of not having what you want. You need to stop envying others; instead, you should learn to appreciate what you are blessed with. When you are jealous, you invite a lot of negative feelings into your life.

Thus, these are some ways to let go of the myth of a perfect life.
