With the hustle and bustle of our daily life, stress and distraction have become a part of our lives, and finding joy and happiness has become a task. If that sounds relatable to you, know this- you’re not alone. We’ve got you 7 simple steps and tips you can implement to find joy in your life. Read on…
Seek Joy Through Inspiration
One of the best ways to be more joyful in general is to try activities that stretch your mind and change the way you think. Spend some time meditating or being in solitude, pondering over the things around you. These simple activities can freshen the mind and boost creativity, bringing to you a feeling of well-being and serenity.
Do Something Challenging
There’s a different kind of pleasure and happiness you’ll feel when you accomplish something, and that’s exactly what you need to do! Set a mental goal of a little task that you find challenging- it can be something as simple as starting with your own garden. Actively take steps each day to hit your goal and pretty soon, you’ll be bathing in the joy and satisfaction of it all.
Accept & Deal with the Sadness
A lot of us are actually stuck in denial, which is literally blocking the joy out of our lives. Accept that there are parts of life that aren’t perfect, and that sadness is natural. Allow yourself to cry- it helps your heart feel light and lets you acknowledge your hurt. It’ll help you heal and experience joy faster.
Pick an Activity that Gives you Joy
Everyday, immerse yourself in an activity of your choice that makes you feel like a kid again- something that gives you real joy and happiness. It can be anything- painting, hiking, spending some time with dogs, dancing- just anything at all.
Give Yourself a Break
You may pride yourself in being able to multitask but you’re only burning yourself out. Every once in a while take a break and be comfortable in saying no to things you can’t or don’t want to do. Allow yourself to loosen up a bit and be easy on yourself.
Say it Out Aloud
The simple task of saying out the word ‘joy’ aloud and simultaneously contemplating its meaning can work wonders in helping you feel better too. Just say it with all your heart and you’ll see how your body reacts to it- almost instantly- like its magic!
Give Yourself the Credit
Most of us are too hard on ourselves, and that’s one of the biggest blocks that stops happiness from entering our lives. Make it a point to pat yourself on the back whenever you accomplish something, and clap for your own self if you don’t have an audience. Honour yourself, because you deserve it.
