  1. Multiple light sources

Light, helps give a room a feeling of grandeur. So multiply the light sources, whether natural or artificial. Indoors, rather than separating your rooms by putting up walls, think of glass partitions like glass roofs. In addition to being ultra-trendy, they allow the light to circulate freely from one room to another. For interiors that do not have side access to the outside, consider skylights. It is the ideal solution for darker places. Remember one thing: the brighter a room, the larger it will appear.

  1. Take care of your windows

As you will have understood, light is an essential factor to enlarge the space visually. So as not to obstruct your windows, the decoration of the edges must remain simple and uncluttered. Declutter your windowsills and choose thin curtains in light cotton to let the light more easily. Sheers are a perfect compromise to dress your windows without losing brightness.

  1. Direct the gaze upwards

To visually enlarge a room, it is sometimes enough to play on the heights. How? ‘Or’ What? By freeing up floor space and installing vertical furniture. To do this, consider installing shelves closest to the ceiling. Do you have a library? Make it climb to the top of the wall! Do you have curtains? Choose them the same length as the height of your wall and hang them closer to the ceiling.

Floors should be kept neutral using solid wood flooring as this helps reflect the light.

  1. Adopt smart furniture

To save space and give the impression of space, there is nothing like multifunctional furniture. And there is no shortage of examples: you can use a side table that turns into a storage basket, a chest that also doubles as a coffee table, an ottoman that can become a side table, and a wall bed.

  1. Play the transparency card

To give depth to your interior, have you thought about transparent furniture? With small touches (the coffee table in the living room, for example), the transparent furniture does not catch the eye and thus gives the impression of a breathing interior. Be careful, however, not to overdo it to avoid the total look, a bit old-fashioned.

  1. Favour sleek furniture

Say goodbye to super heavy and imposing old wooden furniture. For an airy interior, choose furniture with clean lines. For example, in the living room, it is better to opt for a set of two or three small nesting tables with thin legs than a single imposing table.

  1. Favour sliding doors

Whether for doors or clandestine openings, swing doors require enough space to set them up. To compensate for the deficiency of space, it is enough simply to substitute them with gliding doors which, for their part, do not waste space and allow improved circulation.

  1. Have fun with stripes

As in the world of fashion, there are timeless rules to remember in decoration. This is the case with the use of stripes. If the vertical stripes make it possible to lengthen the silhouette in decoration, they have the advantage of increasing the height of a room. Conversely, vertical stripes will give the impression of expanding a room. In any case, stripes should be used sparingly.
