I promise I will do my best…..

to enjoy myself and not worry whilst Dylan is at cub camp!  My lil man who is a real homebird is off for two nights.  I can’t help but feel anxious however I cannot wait to have a Saturday morning off his football duty.

Why as parents do we not realise what we are signing up too when we encourage them to join these clubs!  Nobody warns you that your weekends that were once filled with pub lunches and socialising with friends will turn into mums taxi service! Saturday mornings normally see me, getting Dyl to football, doing a quick dash across town to drop Chloe at dancing, then back to standing in a wind blown field watching 11 8 yr olds chase a football around the pitch.  All the while dragging poor Erin around to watch no matter rain or shine, or normally gusty winds!

Watching aged 8 football is a challenge itself as they all chase the ball whilst Dylan waits in goal!  As the oppenents advance to Dylan I hate it, I know if it goes in he will not be a happy bunny.  The head will bow, the shoulder drops and somehow I have to pick him up again.

This weekend due to camp, there is no football – bliss, it was so cold last weekend!  However I will spend the weekend with my stomach churned in knots instead.  Hoping he is listening, hoping he is having fun.

Being the thoughtful mummy that I am.  I hid a packet of sweets and note in his towel for the inevitable midnight feast.  Then I thought being a typical 8 yr old boy he may not wash, so have now hidden them in his PJ’s as I figure he will wear them!
