A family of five will always create piles of washing and I frequently find myself throwing either darks or lights into the washing machine before 7am in the morning in a vain effort to keep on top of it and provide the children with clean clothes! It really is no surprise that my machine is on its last legs. Therefore, I am sharing with you a picture that shows, why I deserve to win a new appliance by Hotpoint from John Lewis in time for Christmas.
The reason for my copious amounts of washing and drying is because we live life to the full. My oldest has a wardrobe of designer wear and the social life of a C List celebrity, she can’t possibly wear something twice in a row. Therefore it invariably ends up in the washing basket. However what causes even more washing is living life to the fullest. My littlest spent six months in a spica cast, she was bound from tummy to ankles by a heavy body cast, it imprisoned her and took away her freedom. In times like this you reassess and make sure every moment counts. During this time we did lots of crafty and cooking activities. Believe me, before life in spica I never did craft with my kids. I don’t class myself as creative I leave that to nursery and playschool! But at home with a 2 year old we gave it a go. It often meant getting messy, but we had great fun. These activities gave Erin lots of opportunities to practise her fine motor skills.
Life with three children is often a juggling act. We manage football and cubs with Dylan, Have you ever see how dirty a cub gets when on camp or lighting bonfires? I love his sense of adventure and the skills he is taught but the uniform takes a battering!! An eight year old boy on the football pitch is another example, he spends his time perfecting his sliding tackles and comes home muddy but with a huge grin on his face! Priceless.
Little Erin loves getting involved in all she can. As part of her healing and in order to strengthen her muscles we swim alot. This means wet towels are always being dried in our house. She also loves nature and being outdoors. After being confined she now wants to touch and explore the great outdoors, she loves bug hunting and playing in the garden. Come rain or shine she loves nothing more than getting messy in the garden.
Chloe, my big girl is the graceful one, she dances for hours each week meaning that ballet, tap and modern costumes are always to be searched out and washed a couple of times a week. She also plays for the school hockey and netball teams and the PE Kit has a quick turn around from washing and drying.
To top it all off I work three days a week, life as a mum is always about juggling and Sunday has become the ironing day, thankfully lots of the childrens kits can cope with some tumble drying and quick shake to get all but the most stubborn creases out!
As you can see I am in need of a quality washing machine and I hope I have shown why I need a new one! Right now after yet another hetic day it is time for a glass of well deserved wine!
