I first heard about the MAD blog awards a year ago. At the time I was on maternity leave, I was reading and lurking in parenting forums when I spotted a request for votes. At the same time I had been enjoying entering competitons. I had actually had quite a successful year on the winning front – I had been virtually bed bound during the third trimester of my pregnancy and found a competiton website and soon the prizes were rolling in.
Anyway I have digressed – but it is relevant to the story! During this comping time I had also come across parenting blogs – as many held competitions. Then I spotted the plea for votes, so I did some research. And I was sucked in very quickly. I found more blogs and they were witty, passionate about topics and generally interesting. One day I found myself looking at how easy it was to start a blog. I was just tinkering about really – didn’t plan on writing much, didn’t plan on caring about my blog so much. But I did and I do!
I started the blog quite anonmously at first, didn’t really tell anyone or advertise it in any way. However I soon found myself wanting others to read – so I tweeted it. This opened up another whole domain and I can’t believe the community that I have entered into. I have tweeted with some great people, met some in real life and can’t wait to meet lots more at CyberMummy. I have had some great experiences along the way, I have reviewed some fab products both small and big. I have become an ambassador for Graco, but more importantly writing my blog has given me such satisfaction. I always kept diaries as a teen and felt that they gave me a voice. In fact I still have them in boxes in the garage. Blogging has given me the same voice except now I’m sharing my thoughts and opinions to an audience. At times I forget this and sometimes feel abit vunerable when I press publish. At other times I type something so fast, especially if one of the kids has said or done something I want to share. I know I have let off steam here, and made myself giggle. I have watched my stats increase and looked forward to reading the comments that people have left. Therefore it would be humbling to recieve a few nominations. I know there are many other fantastic blogs out there too but I hope there is room for me too!
I am surprised that the MAD awards have come around again so quickly- it doesn’t seem long ago I was on the sidelines. One year later it is me asking to be nominated. I would love Emma and 3 to be nominated for Best New Mad Blog or maybe even Most MAD family life blog.
If you choose to nominate you can do that right here it’s very easy all you need to do is nominate www.emmaand3.com/wordpress on the form.
So back to the competitions – you might be wondering if I have been as succesful this year – in a word no. I don’t have the time as I spend all my spare time on the blog!
Sharing is caring!

It’s really interesting for me to hear how and why people got into blogging and their achievements so far as it is all very new and daunting for me. Hope you do well in the MADS. x
