Born free review

Now that Erin is 15 months we are experiencing a few new issues regarding drinking and teething, thanks to Born Free we have had some help with solutions. I have been experimenting with different cups and beakers for Erin and we have had success with a few. When Born Free found my blog they asked if we would like to try out some of their products. I was keen as they have an excellent reputation. I choose a couple of products that really reflect where we are at the moment in terms of Erin’s development.

Firstly I selected the Twist n Pop straw cup. I thought learning to drink from a straw would be a good skill and hoped that the beaker was as leak proof as it promised.

Erin quickly mastered the concept of drinking from the straw and I do find it easy to use when we are out and about.  It fits nicely into my handbag!

The advantage of Bornfree is that the range is completely Bisphenol-A free plastic.  This is great as recent research does suggest that small amounts of BPA can leach into food and drink products, especially if the contents are heated.

Erin is good at drinking water, in fact i think she is better than the other two were.  I hope to only  keep her drinking plain water for as long as possible.

In addition to the cup we recieved the silicone teether, and boy do we need this!  This week Erin has woken up twice in the early hours due to teething.  She is currently cutting the back teeth and we have had all the unpleasant symptoms that go with teething from the unique nappies to the throbbing red cheeks.  She has even bitten me twice.  The teether is made from medical grade silicone.  It has five different textures to help with the tactile gnawing!!

Erin was a little reluctant with this at first, I think its because it felt so different.  However once I had demonstrated she soon got the hang of it.  She has definately had some relief from it, she bites so hard and concentrates so much.  As useful as this is, I hope we don’t need it for much longer for her sake!

Finally I have also tried the bottles – I know she is getting too old for bottles!  However she loves the comfort of bedtime warm milk from a bottle.  She is my baby, I like this snuggle up time so we are going to continue to use a bottle until we are ready to give it up!  We use a bottle at bedtime and one in the morning, again often snuggled up in bed Erin with milk and me with a coffee!  Again the bottles are BPA free which is probably more important now that she is that bit older as yes I stick the bottle in the microwave to warm up the milk.  These bottles also have an innovate air vent system which helps reduce colic which is important .  The bottles wash well and Erin handles them herself.
