The day I experienced iFly Indoor skydiving was brilliant and here is why!
Birthdays should be celebrated with friends and fun. Big birthdays should be celebrated on an even grander scale! I turned 40 a couple of years back and have many friends celebrating theirs currently. My lovely friend Donna at Little Lily Pad has devised a bucket list of things to do for 40th birthday. Her list was pretty impressive and she sent it to friends to see what they would take on with her.
I was hoping for a get smashed somewhere or something luxurious but no I found myself in an unflattering jumpsuit with ear plugs in preparing to have two hours of iFly indoor skydiving.
IFly World Basingstoke
Last week I headed to iFly World in Basingstoke to enjoy two flights of indoor skydiving. Now skydiving has always been on my own bucket list but I am not great with heights. I have worried about whether I would be able to jump and actually enjoy it. After experiencing the rush of indoor skydiving I really REALLY want to do it.
iFly indoor skydiving was a brilliant experience and my vlog probably tells it better than words alone.
What happens at a Ifly experience?
The ifly experience takes place in Basingstoke and we arrived after an hour half drive. It is located in a retail type park so we grabbed a coffee locally as we were a little early. We then walked over the the ifly center and checked in.
There was a nervous anticpation between Doon and I and we both felt excited and nervous before we got started.
I felt totally at ease with our instructor and our experience. We were talked through the experience, the first stage is watching a short video of what to expect and we were shown the three basic hand signs that we would be using. It is loud in the wind tunnel. Then it was time to don our very flattering jumpsuits, goggles, earplugs and helmets.
We then sat in a little waiting area. Flights are either 1 min or 2 mins depending on what you had booked. We had opted for 2 x 2min flights. It doesn’t sound much but believe me it feels longer when you are in the air.
Once we were ready it was time to get in the ind tunnel. There were 6 of us in our session and we sat waiting for our turn. It is really noisy while waiting.
When it came to my turn I was ready and waiting to fly! The instructor is brilliant and helps put you into the correct position and stays with you in the air the whole time.
On our second flights, we decided to experience the high fly which was breathtaking and exhilarating at the same time. This means we went up much higher and faster. It was such a buzz!
The whole experience lasted an hour and I would love to do it again. After the flight you are able to buy photos and the video of your flights. I was really pleasantly surprised that these were not too expensive to add on. A family pack costs £25 and that provides you with all the images and the vlog.
It was ace to spend the day with Donna ticking off another thing in her birthday list and I’d definitely recommend indoor skydiving with ifly as part of a list of things to do for a 40th birthday or celebration.
