I seem to have raised three children with a love for Geography, Chloe took A-Level Geography, Dylan is currently studying GCSE Geography and Erin is following in their footsteps by completing a Geography quiz for kids and enjoying Geography games for kids. Humanities seem to be their thing and it is a subject area that I am pleased they enjoy.
I have shared before how I am making a feminist of Erin with her choice of reading! I want my children to grow up with respect for the planet and to understand how other cultures live. As a former Sociology teacher, I am very humanities-based and this complements my husband who is a science teacher. Between us we have most of the curriculum covered!
At home Erin loves to expand on her learning, she has an inquisitive mind and is always asking questions and looking for more depth in her learning. She is a child that is academically high achieving and working at greater depth in the classroom. Therefore we often explore ways to encourage her learning and we find ourselves searching for geography games for kids or a geography quiz for kids that encourages her to dig deeper with her knowledge. Erin has a fantastic growth mindset which demonstrates her resilience in the classroom and helps her ask questions.

Flipped Learning with Geography Games for Kids
Erin is encouraged at school to take part in flipped learning which is an approach where she is left to run ahead with her learning and find out things for herself. We use a range of books and the internet to achieve this. She gets a real sense of satisfaction from this approach to her learning.
Erin’s school has moved from a topic-based learning approach to teaching specific subjects and this has got her recognising discrete subjects like geography. She now understands what skills a good geographer has and with this, she enjoys looking at maps and flags and understanding physical geography, plus of course, playing geography games.
I have written before about the many learning apps that we have used to support Maths and English and recently we discovered Archibold Clutterbuck which is full of geography games for kids and geography quiz for kids. The site is free and provides a great resource for children who want to carry on learning about their world. The little exploration station is where you can join Archibold and his friends on their Worldly Adventures. The website is perfect for homeschool geography lessons, teachers and children excited to learn about the world.
There are tons of fun facts and lots to discover like the 7 continents, the world’s environments, it’s indigenous people. The site has a range of activities for kids who want to learn more. Plus they also sell products including the Explorers Collection which Erin has been sent. This set includes an A2 map, travel journal, and 5 Clutterbuck stickers! This is aimed at KS2 children, so those aged 7-10 primarily and it includes a fantastic 52 page travel journal! Lots of pages to write and sketch in, from the amazing transport you’ve ridden to the celebrations you’ve discovered. There’s also plenty to learn with continent facts, illustrations from around the world and a beautiful centre fold world map.
Erin is now 9 and I let her explore the pack on her own terms (more flipped learning) and she was excited and keen to get working through the pack. She likes the journal that she can complete at her own pace. It has space to mark off the continents that she has visited, landmarks she has seen and even animals that she has spotted in their natural habitats. The Worldly Adventures series makes a great a gift for little explorers or has a resource to enhance their knowledge.
