I am passionate about reading, I have always loved to read. My reading material over the years have changed and I don’t find as much time to read novels these days. I am mostly found reading blogs! I have not yet got a kindle but I am thinking it would be good as I always struggle to keep books – we just don’t have enough space amongst all the children’s belongings!
I recently wrote about the importance of reading and was therefore really pleased a receive a few samples of the new Ladybird I’m Ready for Phonics. Erin is four and a November birthday so not yet at school. We have always read with Erin, probably more than we did with the older two if truth be told. That comes from spending months in spica and not being on the move. Erin is not as physical as her brother and sister were she enjoys crafting and book and colouring books. Therefore it is little surprise to us that she is showing an interest in wanting to read already. Infact she actually told me she wants to read.
Having ‘done’ phonics with the older two I am confident with how school approach this- I’m a qualified secondary English teacher too so really want to nurture her love of books. Therefore with these new books we have gently started learning the first few sounds. Erin knows all the ‘letter names’ but wasn’t sure of the sounds. She is soaking it up like a sponge and keeps asking if we can do them. The books are well illustrated and follow the order that children learn the initial sounds at school. priced at £4.99 these are great for pre-schoolers like Erin or those at school. This will reinforce what they are learning in the foundation stage.

I don’t know the name of the book, and would love to find out. But when I was young I would read a book with my mum about a ghost family and the old lady (grandma) used to fart all the time. It would have me and my mum in stitches every time.
No idea what the name of the book was called though :s
