If twinning was a thing 20 years ago when I had Chloe I would have been all over it, however, it wasn’t so we never did! Then when I had Erin I remember Chloe asking if I could buy matching outfits however I could not find anything because their age gap was too big. There is something about Wimbledon that causes many to dig out their rackets and start dashing around a court! We are really lucky as we have a free outside space right behind our house that has a free court. It is really well used by the community which is brilliant but people also share the space really well if others are waiting.
Having access to free sports space is really important for our tweens and teens. I have written before about my frustration with girls dropping out of sport when they get to secondary school age. I’m lucky that my kids are really active and love playing sports still. I have encouraged this by finding sports they enjoy. There is, of course, some degree of privilege involved as we can pay for lessons and equipment but it is good to see that there are free facilities in many communities these days. We have a basketball ball court, basic gym equipment plus a tennis court on our doorstep.
Women in sport do really great campaigns to encourage wider participation in sports and their resources are well worth a look. I am really proud that Chloe has just qualified as a gym instructor which she has undertaken in the past few months since also finishing her degree. She is committed to encouraging girls to stay active and enjoy sports, she is looking forward to helping at a hockey camp over the school holidays and I’m sure will inspire the tweens that attend, which will include her sister!
We really liked the over sized tee and the quality from Glamify Fashion was great. The sizing was good with Chloe getting a s/m and Erin age 11/12. Both fitted the girls well and gave them plenty of room to move and be active. The length is good especially for wearing with shorts.
