When travelling I have learnt that the little things can be the things that make the trip easier. The finer details can make or break a trip and planning for this usually ensures a smooth start to the holiday. As a family of five, we rarely travel lightly and by the time we are all in the car with the cases, hand luggage and more I am usually frazzled.
We have travelled from a range of airports over the years and off site car parking has been more than a blight on my journey. Take the time we got stuck in traffic and were heading to Cardiff airport which is further than we anticipated. We then had to negotiate off-site parking (which took an age to book in) and then clamber on board a stuffy bus for the journey to the airport. My nerves were shot and I was convinced that we were going to miss our plane!
Another time saw us at the end of long day travelling back to the UK stood in the dark and cold waiting for a bus back to the car park. The kids were tired, hungry and we all just wanted to be at home.
These inconveniences mar the start or end of a holiday and when you have spent several thousand on your two weeks of bliss it is disappointing that these memories stand out. It has left us barely speaking and being grumpy when we should be relaxing and enjoying each others company.
Meet and Greet Parking
There is a simple solution to these holidays hells though and it comes in the form of Meet and Greet Parking. The advantage of Meet and Greet Parking is no queuing for transfer buses, no scouring cramped, congested multi-storey car parks for vacant spaces – just the ultimate fast-track service from car to check-in. APH offer a Meet and Greet service from a wide range of airports and we recently used the service when travelling to Perdepera Beach Resort.
The Heathrow Meet and Greet was effortlessly simple and ensured that we were all smiling at check-in.
We arrived at the well-signposted car park, pulled into a space and unloaded our cases. We walked the short distance over to the desk where are details were taken. You simply leave the keys and head straight into a lift and up to departures. The car is then taken to its secure carpark where it is stored for the duration of your holiday.
On the return flight, we called the number provided after we had collected our luggage and as we arrived back in the carpark we waited just a couple of minutes and the car was returned to us.
We landed late at night and we were all tired so this made life much easier and the teenagers and Erin were soon asleep in the back whilst dad drove us home. The Meet and Greet saves us time and removes any hassle from travelling. The service is excellent and like I said those finer details can make all the difference when travelling. Yes the service is more than off-site parking but it gives us more time and when I have spent lots on a holiday it is not much more to factor in.
More Luxuries to Make Travelling Sparkle
I am also a convert to using the lounges. We don’t have credit cards that give us this perk so I pay for entrance but it is so worth it! Once in the premium lounges food and drink is freely available. When travelling with teenagers this is a great advantage as they can fill up before the flight which means that you don’t need to spend money on expensive in-flight meals. You can also have a glass of wine or a gin and tonic before boarding the plane which is certainly the right way to start travelling!
