We love travelling about and seeing different parts of both the UK and further afield, this year we have Florida booked but will also visit parts of the UK. One of the advantages of being teachers is that we have the holiday times together. We often take off for a few days staying in B&B’s or on holiday sites. We love the freedom of the holidays and treasure this time together. Last summer we spent a week at the gorgeous Trevella Holiday Park in Cornwall. Holidaying in the UK encourages us to explore and we had amazing fun as a family learning to fish and also learning to crab. I love this photo of Dyl learning something new.
Family holidays are also a time for spending quality time with those you love. Which again I think is beautifully shown in these photos. I loved catching daughter and dad on camera just enjoying being together.
The UK has some beautiful beaches and countryside and whilst you may not be able to bank on the weather there is so much to see and do. We haven’t been to Scotland yet but have enjoyed much of the Welsh countryside which is where my grandmother is from. We also love both Cornwall and Devon, spending time at Torquay and enjoying the shopping in Exeter.
Holidays are really important for children, which is why I am against parents being fined for taking their children on holidays. Children learn in so many environments and that should not be confined to a classroom. On our worldwide trips the children learn about other cultures and languages. All important for integration and important for living in a global village.
The UK teaches my children about our shared history – we visit castles and we go to places of interest. We try new things, my husband went on a horse for the first time last year. On a recent trip to centre parcs my children enjoyed swimming and Dyl overcame a fear by enjoying water slides and the rapids. He has only just become confident in the water. They also learn resilience on holiday as they overcome fears and learn to bounce back when they find things difficult. Again at Center parcs they tried climbing and water sports.
When checking out what to do at a holiday destination I use social media like twitter to get inspiration, @visitwales is great for finding out what is happening in Wales. Growing up we would visit Tenby and the Gower, places I look forward to taking my children to visit.
