Since turning 40 I have been asked for ID when buying a bottle of prosecco and been mistaken for my dad’s wife! I have also swung through the trees, published my book Blogging Your Way To Riches and canoed down the River Wye. Life really is pretty good. I am not afraid of a challenge and see this, my 5th decade, as being the making of me.
With age comes a confidence that I haven’t always expressed. I worry less about what others think and I am far more comfortable in my own skin. This week I was invited to try burlesque dancing. Now I am not a natural dancer, I don’t have rhythm. As a toddler it was actually suggested that ballet was not for me by the teacher. Instead I was taken to gymnastics which was more suited to me!
My understanding of burlesque dancing only comes from watching Moulin Rouge a film I adored the first time I watched it. Burlesque is a form of dance that uses expression and props to tease and is about cheeky seduction, so don’t be afraid to smile, flirt, wink, and gasp. Having never done anything like it before I was keen to work out some of the basic moves.
Now learning burlesque with a group of ladies you know little about is a baptism of fire. We winked and shimmied at each other. However the experience was fun and proves that at 40+ we still have lots to offer, can feel sexy and should not be pigeon holed.
There are though some issues that do come with age and bladder weakness is one of those. I shared in a previous blog post that trampolining was a challenge for me. Not the moves but the bladder weakness that comes from having three children.
Tena have addressed the issue with their lights range. The range is an introduction to using pads and they are launching their new range with a new media campaign, new TV advert and a huge sampling programme. For many the realisation that they need to wear a pad is a huge milestone. Still it is something that few talk about. This is why you can request a FREE Tena lady sample direct to your door. It is not a voucher where you will be seen buying the product and it is delivered discreetly.
So what is special about the new pads? I was able to see the new pads and they are 20% thinner but just as effective. This is the area that Tena wants to promote as they have faith in the their product but know the size of pads was off putting, especially when women are living life to the full with sport and lifestyle activities.
Tena understand women and know that at 40+ we are in our prime and we demand products to match. So back to burlesque… was I a natural? Not really but I certainly had fun trying. I’ll be keeping my feather boa to try some of the moves again!
Sharing is caring!
