Ozempic is a weight loss treatment that is now available to buy in the UK with a private prescription. I have been taking Ozempic for months and thought a review post would be helpful for others who are considering where they can buy ozempic or Wegovy online in the UK.
You may have heard about the Ozempic pen and how this weekly injection is fast becoming more popular and understood in the UK. The injectable medication has many fans in Hollywood and is attributed to many A-Listers rapid weight loss. Ozempic / Wegovy is only available following an online consultation and I wanted to explain the process, why I have opted to try this as part of my weight loss journey and also share my honest experience of using Ozempic.
You may have seen it being shown on Tik Tok or heard that Boots will be selling it but I wanted to write a complete post and provide far more detail!

What is Ozempic?
Ozempic or Wegovy is the trade name and active ingredient for Semaglutide, a weekly injection that helps you reach your weight loss goals. The ozempic / wegovy injection works in three ways:
- Slows the rate at which the stomach empties, helping you feel fuller for longer
- Targets the reward centre of the brain, which limits cravings between meals.
- Safely lowers your ‘set point’, which is the weight your body fights to maintain, according to your biology.
Although it is relatively new for treating weight loss Ozempic (or brand name wegovy) is not a new drug. It has been widely used to help with blood sugar control for type 2 diabetes or diabetes mellitus. You may have heard about it in relation to a shortage for diabetes patients but rest assured that is not the case.
Clinical trials have shown an idea of what you can expect to lose when using the injectable prescription medicine, in a 2021 study, at 68 weeks, 69.1% of participants had lost more than 10% of body weight, and 50.5% had lost more than 15%.
The average weight loss after 68 weeks is 14.9%, and one in three participants lost at least 20% of their body weight
Getting Wegovy Prescribed for Weight Management in the UK
Wegovy can only be prescribed by a healthcare provider and currently, you cannot get this on the NHS unless you have diabetes. However, you can buy Wegovy as an off-label treatment after having a private consultation. I chose to use MyJuniper who carry out a weight loss programme following you completing a short quiz and then sending photos to a qualified prescriber who will decide if you are suitable for this type of weight-loss medication.
I had decided that this would work for me as I have a high body mass index and have previously had gestational diabetes and I know that my blood sugar levels are often high. Both my parents are diabetic and it is something that I am concerned about in the future. Therefore I concluded that this would likely be a good treatment for me.
I have read about insulin resistance before and I am relatively fit but still don’t lose weight. I train 3 times a week in the gym and work out hard. I wear a heart rate monitor and know that I burn 500 calories or so a session. Yet this has had little impact on my weight over the past four years. I don’t massively overeat and I am currently a UK size large 14 crossing into a 16. I want to be a size 12. My choices are not the best and I think my portions are too big rather and I eat all day long. I would class myself as a binge eater though and this needs addressing.
I completed the online quiz and then waited for a prescriber to look at my results. I then uploaded a side and front profile for them to assess my body shape. They also ask for your body weight and details about any medical conditions / weight-related health conditions.
After a couple of messages, I was offered the opportunity to start Ozempic as an effective treatment for weightloss.
Ozempic Cost
Ozempic is not cheap but compared with other plans where you have to buy specific foods or shakes it is not unfavourable either. My Juniper charges £195 per month and that includes the pre-filled injections and also health coaches to advise you on a healthy diet. You also have access to online support groups and health coaches who monitor your progress and can advise you on side effects and the dose selector.
The first delivery arrived in a huge box which surprised me but I was impressed to find a set of digital scales included in the first shipment to help you track your progress.
To help you get started there is a huge 25% discount on your first box –

The Most Common Side Effects of Ozempic
Weightloss!!! But that is the one we want right? However, alongside this, there are reports from users of having upset stomachs or constipation. There are also tales of nausea, tiredness and headaches.
A few report stomach cramps when they have eaten a larger meal. Some of these side effects can be the result of low blood pressure or low sugar levels so it is important that you make sure that you eat small regular meals to stay balanced.
My experience has been brilliant and I have only had a few waves of nausea which I will explain in my review section. To avoid the side effects you start on a .25 lowest dose for the first month, this helps your body adapt to the ozempic medication. Then after 4 weeks, we switch to .5 for months 2 and 3 before moving to 1.0 full dose glp-1 analogue for the remainder of the weight loss programme.

Three Weeks of Ozempic
I started my Ozempic journey on a Sunday night and I was worried about side effects. I wasn’t worried about doing the injection although I did have to decide between my thigh or stomach. I went for the thigh having read that you get fewer side effects this way. I found doing the injection easy, you can’t really go wrong and the patient information leaflet explains it easily.
I went to sleep wondering if I’d wake up feeling any different. The following day I noticed that I wasn’t hungry. It is a strange feeling and I just constantly felt fine. I did have a few waves of nausea but nothing that impacted my day, I still went to the gym as normal and I have not struggled with low energy or fatigue.
As the days have gone on I have to remind myself to eat and I have found that I am making better choices. I am not reaching for the sweet sugary snacks that I did previously and I feel full much sooner.
I have noticed I’m not drinking Pepsi Max as I feel that I don’t want the fizz inside me! I still have had some chocolate but less frequently than usual and when I do I eat less of it. I leave much of my dinner and serve myself smaller portions. One thing I have noticed is that after drinking wine I did have more of a hangover the following day so now it has inadvertently reduced my mid-week drinking too (no bad thing)!! I was hoping to see some lifestyle changes too so this is another win for me.
The weight loss numbers have also been great as I lost 4lb the first week and 2lb weeks 2 & 3 adding up to 8lb in three weeks without me going without anything. I am pretty sure that it would have been more but I went to Cheltenham races and was drinking champagne on two days plus have had meals out and a feast at a friend’s! This shows that I haven’t gone without yet and have still had some great losses.
My typical experiences are that I starve myself all morning and then binge mid-afternoon and yet I have found that this is not the case when taking ozempic I am not having any cravings it is like my blood sugars have levelled out and I don’t need the fixes.
I have also naturally switched to eating a plum or something savoury rather than sweet. I have naturally cut out bread and found I’m opting for high-protein foods instead. I am really pleased about this as this is what is going to be important for making long-term changes that I can do myself. I want to be able to reach for healthy snacks rather than sweets eventually and this mindset change takes time.
My Juniper
As I said I am buying Ozempic (semaglutide injections) from My Juniper as they have the best long-term support and consultation process. Some of the other options for buying ozempic online UK do not offer any support and they are not available for support should you struggle with side effects or have questions. I wanted a reputable UK company with a team of medical professionals and Juniper are exactly that. Other sellers require you to apply for the medication every month whereas My Juniper has a rolling programme until you are ready to stop. Remember if you decide to order use FRIEND25 to get 25% off your first order. Remember to select through a friend ‘Emma Bradley’ at the where did you hear about us stage.
Do let me know how you get on and any questions do feel free to ask me as I am happy to share my journey now that I am a few weeks in.
Sharing is caring!
