Our Photoshoot with Chui King Li Photography

Family is everything and I like to catch those moments that illustrate the relationship we have with each other. Unless you have never read my blog before or met me in person you will know that my eldest is flying the nest in September and heading off to university. I am excited for her but it will also change the dynamics of the family unit and I will miss her immensely.

Late last year I decided that I wanted a photoshoot with the three children before the move happened. I want to capture their relationship and get some new photos to frame.  I haven’t had a photo shoot since they were little and wanted to remember this stage of our family life.

Back in December I spotted fellow bloggers Louise’s post about her Winter photo shoot with Chui King Li Photography and I knew I wanted Chui to capture my family. Chui Li King Photography is a Gloucestershire based photographer who specialises in taking natural lifestyle family photographs. I contacted Chui after looking at her website and we started looking at dates.  Chui was so accommodating because getting my two teenagers in the same place as the rest of us is no mean feat!  We found a date to suit us and Chui sent me a short questionnaire to help her get a feel for us as a family before the shoot.

We opted to have our shoot at Haresfield Beacon, near Stroud.  It was such a cold morning and the ice was thick on the ground.  This made a perfect backdrop.  Chui specialises in natural light photography and there was very little posing for photos.  Instead, we just wandered and walked as a family.  The focus of the photo’s were the children although I took the opportunity to get some photos of me for the blog!

We spent about an hour outside but the time whizzed by. The shoot was very relaxed, and even Dyl who dislikes the camera was happy and relaxed throughout the shoot. At the end, we couldn’t wait to see the photos and Chui provided a sneak peek within a few days.  Within ten days we had the whole set, with each photo making me smile.

I am so happy with the set and they are just what I wanted to capture.  Now I have these images of my beautiful children to treasure.  Life whizzes by and I wrote about parenting an 18 year old and just how quickly time has gone. Now I have these images to pull my thoughts to this time.  We are determined to make the most of the summer before she goes and I am so glad that I will have these photos to look back on. I cannot thank Chui enough for capturing my family and if you want a special set of photos I cannot recommend this talented lady enough.  You can also see her work on her beautiful Instagram account.
