Parenting is a bit of a minefield isn’t it? Just when you feel that you are winning in the parenting stakes along comes another development to throw you off track. Parenting is definitely a journey and you learn the survival tricks along the way.
As my children have got older the issues have changed. I am no longer a sleep deprived new mum wondering what to feed my toddler. Instead I am parenting two children who are taller than me! There issues are different but I am still seeking the answers.
Education Quizzes have recognised that parents need a bit of support and advice whatever the age the of their child. The education quizzes site was primarily designed to offer some curriculum based support to students of all ages. I have used Education Quizzes with my own children and those I tutor. The quizzes are written by 20 qualified teachers but their experience stretches beyond the classroom.
A new section on the site is Parents 999 so called because it aims to help parents out with providing them with the information busy parents need on a variety of topics from building emotional resilience in children to choosing a school. The 999 section is developing new posts frequently and will cover parent power and and subject knowledge.
I think the subject knowledge is going to be a real strength as I often wonder how to help my children, especially when they get stuck on Maths homework. The language and techniques of Maths has changed from when I last sat in the classroom doing it. I want to be able to teach and support my children the way they are now taught rather than to confuse them with my outdated methods.
The parent power covers the non curriculum things and again this is an ever changing landscape. Just how much do we know about keeping our children safe online for example.
I decided to have a look at the ‘Making School a Positive Experience’ page. The text gives current up to date advice and then has a short multiple choice set of questions. I find the questions make sure that I have actually read and absorbed the information. If I just read the information i don’t always internalise or reflect on what I am reading. I am a very fast reader and need to make sure I focus on the words rather than just skim reading them. The use of a quiz ensures that I have picked out the key pieces of information.
The 999 parents is going to be a valuable resource for all parents as their children age and go through different stages in their childhood. None of us get this parenting thing exactly right all of the time. The more that we can educate ourselves the more we can offer our children.
I am a firm believer in seeking out advice and support from others and I always want to do my best for my children and this is a tool that can help me achieve that.

Quizzes, Puzzles and Questionnaire are very useful . My wife and I took use of them when we taught our kids. We seen that their memories, reaction are improved and we can give our kids some pieces of advice related to our questions, making kids feel that we don’t force them to follow it, they should follow it.

Agree with you Quizzes, Puzzles are very useful. With parenting advice traditional, it makes us feel boring but when you use it with Quizzes or Puzzles, it very exciting.
