We each know our children are awesome but some children are more awesome than others hey! Somehow in the great gene pool of life I created kids that get weird and wonderful health conditions, I have a broken teen, a tween with an unusual skin condition and a tot with a dodgy hip. It is probably wise that we stopped at three! None of the conditions are life threatening obviously but they all come with day to day challenges and some create more problems than others.
Yet these kids of mine continue to amaze me day by day. Chloe is known as the sporty one, she has excelled at hockey and this year has her sights set on getting that West of England hockey place. She has stepped up her game this season playing for Glos Hockey Club in addition to the school and county stuff.
However it is my quiet boy that that has come out of the sidelines again, whilst he quietly does his own thing he hides his light under a bush. He is the brains of the family and determined. Life’s ambition swings between being a footballer, a doctor and a police officer. Whilst we still have a week to wait before we find out whether he is likely to get a place at the much coveted grammar school he is still surprising us. This week I took a text that informed me that the local football team Dyl plays for had put him forward for trials. Not really sure what I was agreeing to I replied that he was free and yes he could go. When he came home from school I asked him if he knew what the trials were for? He replied yes and that it was for Swindon Town! I was a little surprised but I shouldn’t have been really. Infact I feel bad for being so surprised, my son is awesome he just doesn’t quite shout about it like his big sister does!
So although the gene pool might be lacking my kids ability is not! They rock. Who knows what Erin will shine at?

Wow, that’s awesome! Very well done to them both. Hope the trials go well. My son would be dead jealous of your boy getting trials for a team like Swindon Town.
I know Sarah! It’s awesome and even if it goes no further its amazing he had a trial and he knows that and feels brilliant because of it!
Oh well done to your children – not surprising with your genes. Erin is already amazing and inspiring – but who knows what else she will do.

I think it’s great watching children turn into their own characters and pursue their own interests. Especially having the patience not to push them into anything and let them find their own path. Well done to yours xxx
Blimey. Housepoints all round for everyone. We are constantly surprised by our two – they have such a small age gap but are utterly different. We need to cultivate the differences and the similarities because they are all fabulous. It’s just managing it all as it collides that’s the issue! x
