Running the house – my way!

Since October life has changed quite a bit for me. I used to go to  nursery two days a week, grandads house one day a week and spend two days at home with mummy. However since my hip grew a bit wonky and I need lots of hospital visits and operations I have been at home with mummy all the time. That’s when I decided to help more around the house.  This post shows how we have fun doing the chores and my top tips, by Erin aged 2!

Mummy has never been that domesticated but I have taken her under my wing and together we run the household – oh and I am quite good at it!

1. My day starts with sorting the washing, mum gets muddled if I don’t tell her who each item belongs too!

2, After the washing is sorted I have a think about preparing dinner.  We have got much better at baking and cooking as we have more time to practise.  My top tip is to get organised at the start of the week.  I think about what meals we need and then get all the ingredients together for the week.  It’s cheaper than buying as you go – if I go to the shops everyday I end up buying extras like ginger bread men!  We like trying new things now and have more variety.

Sometimes though our equipment lets us down. Mum says its because it’s all on its last legs as they’ve had it since their wedding 10 years ago.  I think it doesn’t help when Chloe put a teacake in the toaster and the raisan made it blow up!

3. Before I have a little afternoon nap we clean and dust.  We use baby wipes everywhere especially for all the skirting boards and stair rails.  With this beautiful sunshine we are having we can see all the dust.  Wipes are great for picking it all up.

4. Another secret I told mummy is that a little bit of baby oil is brilliant for keeping all the shiny kitchen stuff sparkling and smear free.  You don’t need much mind you otherwise everything gets slippy!

I do have a bit of help at home because Chloe and Dylan have chores to do after school.  They have to keep their own rooms clean. I think it is really important we all take responsibility as we have a busy house. There you have my top tips on running house and turning our house into a home of the house proud.  I really don’t know how mummy will cope when I am all fixed up and back at nursery *sigh*
