Many of us are not aware that there are 8 main areas of self–care: physical, psychological, emotional, social, professional, environmental, spiritual, and financial. Each of these areas need to be looked after to inspire wellbeing. If we neglect one area of our self it will impact on the others. If you struggle with self care ideas I have you covered with todays post on physical self care.
Over the following weeks, we will be looking at the other areas to inspire wellbeing as we need to understand a holistic approach to our wellbeing. This is going to be a mini-series on how I am looking after myself as we ease out of what has been a challenging 18 months. One of my favourite quotes is ‘that you can’t pour from an empty cup’ and this is so true and we need to prioritise ourselves with self care ideas in order to be able to give freely to others.
Over the past year we have been in a heightened state of alertness, we have been in crisis mode and reactive rather than proactive. Now is the time to start readdressing this imbalance because quite frankly we are worn out and need some self care.

Self Care Ideas for Busy People
Movement of the body, health, nutrition, sleep and resting needs are some examples of physical self-care that promote and inspire wellbeing. Self care is a powerful way to reset your life. When you’re busy and overwhelmed, these small self care activities can bring a sense of calm to the chaos. With a little every day, you can build a self care routine to help you stay balanced and comfortable.
Self Care Beauty Tips
It is only really in the past few years that I have embraced looking after my skin and spending a little more on products. I am lucky to have young-looking skin but I do have sensitive skin and also an abundance of red skin! Therefore these days I wear foundation no matter what. I have also had semi-permanent eyebrows and eyeliner put on which I love. My eyeliner especially is an absolute game changer and I will never again go without that beauty treatment.
Now that the children are back in school and home learning is largely a thing of the past it is possible to once again carve out some time to practise self care. Thankfully gyms are back open for those who enjoy structured classes and workouts but even a walk in the fresh air is important for our physical wellbeing.
Another feature of physical wellbeing is taking care of your body and I am thrilled to be working with Very to put together my beauty self care ideas. Very want to help us recharge by taking care of ourselves, this includes revamping our wellness and skincare routines. I am using products that I genuinely love and recommend based on what has worked for me after trying out a number of brands.

- Daisy Love from Marc Jacobs, is a fresh floral fragrance with a fruity opening and a woody-musk base. Plus it comes in a cute bottle which looks great on my dressing table.
- Murad essential C day moisturiser is a real treat for my skin, it came with great reviews so I wanted to try it out and I am not disappointed.
- REN Evercalm, anti-redness serum. I have previously mentioned having rosacea and this is a protective serum for redness, dryness and irritation-prone skin, the calming formula helps reduce redness and sensitivity by strengthening the skin barrier. It also boosts hydration, while building skin’s resilience over time thanks to its antioxidant and soothing properties. This bottle promises a lot and it was probably one I was most looking forward to reviewing.
- REN also have a range of skincare including body wash. This is one I am keeping for myself and not letting the kids use! I enjoy an invigorating shower in the morning as it refreshes me and sets me up for the day. Self care takes different forms at different times. Sometimes a long soak in the bath with a good book is wanted and at other times an invigorating shower.
- Philip Kingsley Styling is well known for its hair care products and the Finishing Touch Spray is a long-lasting flexible hold, texture and natural control without stiffness. It leaves your hair lustrous, smooth, and healthy-looking, with a reflective shine. I only need a little spray in order to keep those little flyaways under control.
- Moving onto makeup Benefit Boing is a full coverage concealer, it covers those dark circles and small blemishes. I often need a little help under the eyes and as I said I always wear concealer and foundation to cover the redness.
- Having the best tools of the trade also help which means make up brushes! Did you know that many makeup brushes contain bacteria and other nasties as they are not cleaned often enough therefore you should be cleaning yours or treating yourself to new ones? I recommend Real Techniques eyeshadow brushes. I have also tried the Deliah foundation brush which puts my foundation on brilliantly.

These beauty products make me feel better about my physical wellbeing, they give me the confidence to look after myself more, that’s the thing with self care ideas, the more you do the better you feel and then you want to move more, eat better and genuinely take better care of yourself.
Along with the beauty products I have recommended it is also important to get good restful sleep, for me changing my pillows really positively impacted my rest and relaxation.
These self care beauty tips have made me feel better and more confident, not only have they left my skin glowing and in tip top condition they have left me feeling better about myself. Now that we are stepping out again I want to feel amazing and embrace all that is back on offer. I am not someone who wears a full face of make up everyday but when my skin and hair feel hydrated I instantly feel better on the inside too. Beauty self care tips absolutely inspire wellbeing for me and I can then also tackle the other areas of self care including professional self care and financial self care.
Sharing is caring!
