The Big Feastival: Our Day at Alex James Farm

This summer has been all about family festivals for us, we started off with Wychood festival annd Chloe headed off to V Fest. Finally Erin and I had a wonderful experience at the Big Feastival which is also known as Alex James festival.  The Big Feastival is held at Alex James Farm in the Cotswolds, luckily for us this is less than an hour away and we were gifted Big Feastival tickets by Vita Coco.

The Big Feastival is tagged as a feel good festival of food and music for all the family. Erin and I couldn’t agree more.  We headed over to Alex James farm at 10.am to be there at the start of the day.  When we arrived the queue for the camping entrance was rather long. Each bag needs to be checked.  However those holding day big feastival tickets were able to join a much shorter queue as were those with VIP access.

Once inside we were welcomed by friendly smiles and plenty of activities.  Erin was eager to explore and quickly found hersself in the play doh tent where she was able to craft away.  Next she bounded into the My Little Pony tour bus. In here she was able to get her passport stamped and claim a lovely little goody bag.

As we wandered Alex James Farm at our own lesiurely pace we sampled so many new and delcious foods. The sun was shining and we just took our time.  There were so many activities for Erin to get involved in.  Of course the Vita Coco team had really pulled out all the stops to entertain the whole family. Wether you were looking for a hammock to chill in, some yummy jerk chicken made with Vita Coco oil to nibble on, a compliementary drink to refresh yourself from the sun they had it all. In addition the children were able to decorate a t shirt (which kept Erin busy for ages) or be a daredevil and climb the wall.

Another highlight was the wonderful real flower crown making session put on by local florists Forget Me Knots. We were shown how to make our own floral crowns. Then Erin wore it like a princess for the rest of the day. The Cotswold Farm Park had also bought along some animals to pet. Erin fed the goats and even held a tiny baby chick at Alex James Farm.

As the sun began to dim the music stepped up.  Erin had been waiting to see one of her favourites, Louisa Johnson and she didn’t disappoint.  It was worth the big feastival tickets for her alone in Erin’s eyes! The Saturday night saw Olly Murs take to the stage, along with Madness.  As I said it really is a family festival suitable for all.  We didn’t camp this year but Erin would love to next year. I have already said I will look at getting us big feastival tickets next year for the whole weekend.
