The working world is changing, and it’s important that anyone that’s thinking about undertaking a new career thinks about their long-term job prospects before beginning the journey. In the coming decades, it’s believed that somewhere in the region of 40% of jobs will be lost through automation and AI. There are some industries that will be relatively well-protected, such as healthcare, the arts, and the legal industry.
Indeed, not only will these sectors be relatively immune from the changing workplace, they are due to enter something of a boom period. There is always a steady need for lawyers, but this demand will be even greater as the world becomes increasingly globalized. If they want to work with the biggest and best companies, it’s no longer enough for a lawyer to just have an in-depth understanding of the domestic law; they need to have an understanding of global practices and law.
This is beneficial for the legal sector, of course, but also for the person that is qualified in LLM. They’ll be able to choose from a wide range of jobs, all over the world. As well as engaging in challenging and rewarding work, they’ll find that they can be handsomely rewarded for their skills and expertise, too. Lawyers with a global perspective of law can end up working on environmental, intellectual property, and tax cases, among others.
