Visiting Warners Gin Distillery

International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated each March and despite what many think there is still a need for a day to shout about the achievements of women but to also highlight the gender inequality that infuriatingly still exists in society.

I have two girls, one at University studying Sociology as a minor to her Criminology Degree and one rising feminist age ten. Not so long ago she was talking to one of her teachers and announced that she is a feminist and her teachers reply was ‘that doesn’t surprise me Erin’! I will keep beating this drum because it matters.

Therefore I was thrilled to be invited to attend an early celebration of IWD at the Warners Gin Distillery, the fabulous husband and wife team, Tom and Tina welcomed a group of women to enjoy a day at their family farm and learn about the Warners brand, how it was developed and listen to their stories of inspirational women. The couple explained that inspirational women are at the heart of who they are. Upbringings in farming saw Tom and Tina, raised by incredible, strong and EPIC women, and this strength and determination is deeply rooted in the foundations of Warner’s today.

Warners Gin is a leader in crafted gin, they were at the forefront of adding flavour to their distilled London dry gin which began in 2012. Many of the recipes and ideas flowed from around the family dining table before finding itself bottled at the supermarkets and in bars we visit.

We arrived at the family farm for day of history, laughter and of course gin tasting! What surprised me is that Warners is still very much family focussed. Despite being a UK brand leader there was no corporate feel to the farm, don’t get me wrong, they are clearly very intelligent, entrepreneurial, business-minded individuals but it was their warm, friendly approach that was felt. It’s a small farm where an awful lot happens!

The farms eco and sustainable approach is amazing, they grow their own botanicals, they have bees and a keeper! They draw water from their spring and they harvest with a respect for nature and the community. Tom explained that their business was simple, you use quality ingredients, quality materials and you will produce a quality gin. I will also add that they seem to have a quality team working together!

After touring the farm we headed out to the local pub for lunch. The menu had a nod to gin and was delicious. My beef was divine and full of flavour, it was of course complimented with gin cocktails! Once back at the farm the different gins were opened for us to try and try we did!

For EVERY person who shares their own #InspoWomen story and tags @warnersgin during March, Warners will send you a code, giving you 20% off ALL 70cl gins bought through their website. T&Cs apply and this offer ends at 23.59pm on 31st March 2020 Do take advantage of this great offer – if you want a reccomendation – I’d go Rhubarb!
