Summer break is a fabulous time of year. The kids are off school and the whole family can spend some quality time together. It can, at times, be difficult thinking of fun things to do with them so here are 10 ideas to keep the kids occupied during summer break.

Go on a scavenger hunt
A scavenger hunt is a fabulous way to get out and about and explore the local area particularly during summer break as it tends to be lovely weather. Before heading off, get the kids to write a list of things that you each have to find. There are lots of free printable lists online if they find that easier.
Play a board game
There are loads of different board games for children of all ages. It’s a great way to spend a few hours and everyone can get involved.
Have an online family quiz
This is another great activity you can do indoors or when family and friends are visiting. There are thousands of different free quizzes available online with a host of different topics.
Get away for a few days
Whether camping or staying in a child-friendly hotel, few things are better than a family road trip. If you don’t have any transport, car rental companies like Globe Car offer a wide range of vehicles you can hire for differing amounts of time.
Have a picnic
Pack a picnic basket and a blanket and head to your local park. Most parks have a range of swings and slides for the kids to enjoy. Take a soccer ball with you and have a game with the kids.
Host a family barbecue
Getting the grill fired up and the paddling pool out for the children is a fabulous way to keep the kids occupied. Why not make a day of it and invite extended family too. Everyone can catch up and the kids will have a wonderful time.

Movie nights are popular all over the world particularly during summer break in the UK because we have the weather.. you can even do it outside! You can stream thousands of different movies nowadays at the touch of a button so you won’t struggle to find something that the whole family will enjoy. Get your favorite chips and snacks at the ready and enjoy some relaxing movie time.
Take the kids geocaching
Geocaching is a bit like a modern-day treasure hunt. Download the geocaching app and enter your location then off you go. The app will guide you to where the geocaches are hidden. The kids are likely to get very excited, particularly if they find a cache with treasure hidden inside!
A day out at the cinema
There’s always a child-friendly movie or two showing at the cinema that the kids will love. While it may not be possible as we wait to come out fully of lockdown, why not look for a drive thru cinema? Book tickets in advance if you can as it could be busy. All you need now is some popcorn!
Bake a cake
Most kids love baking. Whether from scratch or a packet mix, baking a cake is a great way to spend an afternoon. Just remember to have the kids help clean up the mess afterward!
