Advent calendars have become a real thing in the last few years. Back in the day we had picture calendars and then thought our luck was in if we got a chocolate one. Fast forward 15 years and Advent Calendars range in price from £1 to over £100. There is something for everyone no matter what your budget. In this post we are sharing some of the best advent calendars thatt we have seen for school age children.
Erin is almost 8 and the advent calendar is a huge thing. One gap in the market still seems to be calendars for teen boys. I still struggle to find one for him yet there are plenty for teen girls and primary age children. But once a teen boy has outgrown lego there is not much for them. Good job Dyl likes a decent chocolate one!
This year we have unboxed the Smiggle Advent calendar. This is proving very popular and the products inside are well worth the £25 price tag in my opinion.
If your little one loves crafting then the Hama Beads Advent Calendar could be a great choice. This calendar has a Christmas inspired design to make behind each door. Perfect to use as Christmas tags or hang on the Christmas tree!
The hama beads calendar contains over 5000 beads, 5 pegboards, 6 bead supports, instructions, play tray and reusable ironing paper. I like that this one has some longevity to it and it is a great way for little hands to add to decorating the Christmas tree. The Hama Beads Advent Calendar costs £15.99 from Amazon and considering this provides a daily activity I think it is good value.
Another great advent calendar and aimed at tweens, so slighty older girls is the MAD beauty advent calendar. This advent calendar is just £17.99 there are two designs to choose from; Pink & Black and Classic Gold. Both contain exactly the same, and so whichever you choose hidden behind every door you’ll discover a wonderful beautifying gift, from lipsticks and lip glosses, to nail polish and eye shadows, you’ll also find accessories too such as a nail file, festive nail sticker’s, brushes and more. This available on the Find Me A Gift website.
My final pick is the a more DIY advent calendar. If your child has a favourite toy, then buy your own advent box like this one from Amazon Advent Chain Hanger with 24 Boxes Advent Calendar to Fill Yourself this allows you to fill with your own products. You could do a mixture of sweets and toys. Erin adores collectibles and I knew the brand new Itty Bittys would be a hit. The all new collection is comprised of Beauty and the Beast, Tinkerbell, Ariel, Rapunzel and Aurora. There is also a Disney Frozen collection launching at the same time (Anna, Elsa, Olaf and Sven) which will be fab. Itty Bittys are the perfect size for a make your own advent calendar and they are super cute!
The Itty Bitty’s are made by Hallmark and are available in so many retail outlets including Amazon and card shops, my favourite is the Disney Beauty & the Beast Itty Bitty. It is my favourite Disney story!
Advent Calendars are a great way to count down to Chgristmas and there are so many to choose from now. Have you spotted one that you really like. As for me, if anyone wants to buy me a grown up gin or prosecco one I won’t say no!
