I am a lazy shopper as I now either buy online or head to a department store. Department stores suit me as I am buying for three children of different ages. Where Chloe wants clothes, make up and girlie things , Dylan is all about gadgets and Erin is plastic fanstastic. I enjoy shopping in my local Debenhams with its many concession stores. I can pick up pieces from my favourite brands, pop some perfume or makeup in my shopping bag, grab some festive decorations and even shop for toys.
The teacher in me always looks for what value toys offer and I like to make sure some of the toys are educational. Erin is currently learning to tell the time so this teaching clock is ideal for her and it is just £10. Again the wooden numbers are great for infant school age children. We can do simple maths, like sequences but also number problems and addition and subtraction. Erin is a bit of a Maths whizz and often sets herself sums so this is perfect for her learning.
Older children will enjoy the many science experiments and kits that are now available. Dylan enjoys doing these and the kits ensure that we have all the bits we need to complete the experiments.
I also got Erin the Disney Princess Royal Boutique Cash register which is available from most toy shops including Smyths where it is priced at £24.99 Again this toy has great educational potential because it is fully working. Erin loves maths and problem solving. This will be a great way for us to play shops together and teach her the value of money. I will also be able to do maths with her which she can then double check using the till. In addition to the till function it comes complete with pretend money and a working scanner. This is sure to add to her imaginative play as well as promoting her number skills.
