Setting the Hoover H Purifier 500 Air Purifier up
There are two parts to setting up the Hoover H Purifier 500 Air Purifier, there is the actual machine and then there is the hon app which enables you to control the purifier by remote control. Setting up the machine was straightforward, it literally is a case of taking it out of the box and removing the protective packaging that was around the hepa filter. Then it was time to plug it into the electricity supply! In the box was also two fresh fragrances as there is also a diffuser function, these just need to be screwed into the correct position.
Secondly download the Hon App, which helps you manage the air purifier in real time. The app will let you manage the different settings including automatic mode and give you updates on the air quality in your home.
Using the Hoover H Purifier 500 Air Purifier
Once the set-up is complete the combined action of the machine and the app can monitor the humidity level, to give you the perfect home environment. You can see at a glance the levels of pollutants in the home. When it is good there is a green light ring making it easy to understand and providing us with an intelligent air purification experience. When there is an increase in pollutants using the automatic function it will set the fan speed, based on the detected quality air.
If you want technical details you’ll be interested to know that there are three layers of filtration with the exclusive hoover system of filtration. The Outer Layer works as a primary filter, intercepting the largest particles such as human or pet hair and dust and you will notice a difference really quickly if you are an allergy sufferer.
The Active Carbon filter absorbs gaseous pollutants (VOC, NO2), fumes, cigarette smoke and odours leaving your home feeling and smelling fresher. Use this combined with the aroma diffuser and you’ll really notice an improved air flow. Another feature I like is that if the Hoover H Purifier 500 Air Purifier detects carbon monoxide in the house you are notified via the hon app which is so important as carbon monoxide poisoning can be a silent killer that is really hard to detect.
Can it be used overnight?
The Hoover H Purifier 500 Air Purifier can be used overnight in the sleep mode which dims or turns the light off the air quality ring. The sleep mode also implements a lower noise level. I think this is a great feature as I will definitely want to use this upstairs in the spring to remove pollen.
Our experience
My initial thought was that the air purifier was really modern looking, it was lightweight making it easy to move around the home and came with a decent length cable. It is quite a large machine but fits in easily in our living room and also upstairs when I put it up there. It is reportedly one of the best air purifiers on the market and I had high hopes over the results expected.
We have been using the Hoover H Purifier 500 for a few weeks, as I said at the start Dylan has really bad hayfever and Erin has asthma. Chloe also suffers from a dust allergy and indoor pollutants, therefore I have been using the machine upstairs to improve the good air quality in their respective bedrooms. Erin’s asthma is often triggered by a very dry environment and we have noticed that the diffuser element is helping with that irritating dry cough by adding moisture to the environment.
Chloe has also noticed a positive difference in her sleeping habits which is a great result as she often sleeps poorly and wakes up really blocked up in her sinuses. Since using the purifier Chloe thinks that the dust allergy has reduced. I think this is because the dust mites are not trapped in her soft furnishings like the curtains and mattress.
Although hayfever season hasn’t kicked in yet I am really hoping that this will make a big difference as it is endorsed by the British Allergy Foundation who have carried out testing.
