How does your garden grow?

The sun was shining and Erin and I were heading to the RHS Malvern Spring Festival for their family day.  We set off early to try and avoid the traffic – it was drizzling when we left but the sun was promised to shine and I anticipated it would get busy. One advantage of visiting Malvern is that the area copes really well with the heavy traffic, we were quickly parked up and ready to head into the show.

RHS Malvern Spring Festival is a spectacular event, not just for grown ups, but for little ones too. Passionate about engaging the next generation of Alan Titchmarsh’s and Carol Klein’s and nurturing young talent there are hands on workshops to entertain. Erin was looking forward to seeing Mr Bloom and experiencing the The Discovery Zone.  The discovery zone promised immersive lively and fun activities. There were exhibitions and things to see.

Erin had a great time – it seemed that the organisers had underestimated the venue space for Mr Bloom and unfortunately it was full to capacity way before it started and many were forced to try and watch from the sides,  I am sure next year they would use a bigger area for this as it proved so popular. Erin was thrilled that she got to babysit ‘Dave the Marrow’ for Mr Bloom.

We spent more time ambling through the crowds. We bought dresses (for Erin) from Joules for just £15 they were doing a roaring trade in sun hats for £5 too! This dress is just under £10 bargain – you can buy it here.

We bought flowers for the garden which Erin plans to plant after school tomorrow and she played with the hands on stuff.

RHS Malvern Spring Festival brings to the fore the finest in both gardening and food. Visitors can expect stunning show gardens and nursery displays alongside a bounty of food producers, eclectic shopping and top tips from celebrity chefs and garden experts alike.

The Godfather of Gardening Alan Titchmarsh and National Treasure Mary Berry also be headlined RHS Malvern Spring Festival. The two legendary icons took to the stage as the landmark gardening and food festival returned to the Three Counties Showground. Children go free throughout the festival which is a great feature and stops the day from costing a  fortune in entrance fees.  Although the festival has finished for this Spring it was a great attraction and something I will attend again in the future. It is a great day out, especially if the sun is shining.  There were things for the children to do and a great introduction to gardening for them.
