This week has seen my year 11’s leaving school and also my yr 13’s, it always makes me reflect on my time at school and how much I enjoyed it (in the majority – sixth form excluded).
I look back at myself as that young girl full hope, anticipation and excitement of what lay ahead. The freedom of the end of complusory schooling is a massive step into the world. A largely unknown world with so many new experiences to generate. I can honestly say that that time was such fun. I enjoyed the new freedoms given to me by my parents, at times I let them down, but I think that is a right of passage into adulthood.
Growing up isn’t always easy and some decisions made along the way were not always well thought out and planned but I look back at that stage with a huge beaming smile on my face. I had the greatest girl friends – some who are still center stage with me in life today.
I have a cheesy playlist of music and films that made up, that special time in my life including,
1. Top Gun – Maverick was my hero of the time I could quote much of the video as I watched it so often! Do you remember:
Iceman: You two really are cowboys.
Maverick: What’s your problem, Kazanski?
Iceman: You’re everyone’s problem. That’s because every time you go up in the air, you’re unsafe. I don’t like you because you’re dangerous.
Maverick: That’s right! Ice… man. I am dangerous
2. Pretty Woman – who didn’t want to be whisked into a world of luxury like that?
3. As for music, my girls and me spent so much time dancing to Abba’s ‘Dancing Queen’ – why is it that you thought these tracks had been written just for you.
4. The final cheesy track of that time is the ‘urban cookie collective’ The Key the Secret’
If you are playing along with the Domino’s Stuffed Crust Quest your question is:
What is the name of the character played by Julie Roberts in the film ‘Pretty Woman’?
