Having teens and a husband who is a teacher means that we cherish the school holidays. However getting us all in the same place at the same often is a tricky task. This is why I like to book us a few days away each holiday so that we can have some quality family time together. Now more than ever I realise our family time is diminishing. It is little more than a year until Chloe will be heading away to university. I want to make the time count now whilst I still have them all at home. Therefore Hawkchurch Resort and Spa, Devon is how we spent some of the school holidays.
After spending a few hours looking for a holiday lodge in Devon I discovered Hawkchurch Resort and Spa. I booked us a short break in the Coleridge Lodge. I would have loved a lodge with a hot tub but as I’d left it until last minute none were available. However there is the spa which I planned to make use of. Hawkchurch is situated just six miles from Lyme Regis which is an area we love to visit.
Hawkchurch Resort and Spa is owned by Hoseasons and is one of the quieter sites. It is not an active site with playgrounds and entertainment and therefore suits older children. It is designed to create a blissful escape, the stylish accommodation offers luxury home from home comfort, while the on-site relaxation areas, indulgent treatments, fine dining in Beeches restaurant and an elegant, superbly stocked bar creates the perfect relaxation environment.

We were invited to dine in the restaurant on one evening to sample the delights. We ate on a Wednesday night when it is steak night. This meant that we could have two steaks for £20. The older two had burgers whilst Erin ate from the children’s menu.
The meal was delicious and like the rest of the resort, it was a quality event. It is really good food, well presented and served by fabulous waiting staff. The restaurant is spacious, light and a really nice place to eat. We enjoyed a bottle of wine and had a lovely relaxing evening.
Hawkchurch resort and Spa is a fab place and I would totally recommend it for families with older children, couples or a mixed group event. Whilst there I spotted a group of ladies enjoying a big birthday and couples having romantic short breaks.
Each afternoon I spent some time relaxing in the spa with Chloe. There is a fab hydrotherapy pool and sauna which is for over 16’s. There are a few loungers to relax on and we literally felt the weight being lifted from our shoulders.
