I am just back for an amazing week in sunny Corsica, I popped over for the week taking both Dylan and Erin. We had an amazing time learning new skills and refreshing old ones thanks to Mark Warner Holidays. I have never been on a Mark Warner Holiday before and I am very impressed, the watersports on offer are first class and the waterfront staff so fantastic. There will be a few blog posts about the stay but I just wanted to share a few images for now. I didn’t take these photos as I am the subject! Instead the lovely Amanda at The Ana Mum Diary acted as my personal paparazzi and full credit goes to her for these images.
I learnt to windsurf when I was 16 and immediately I loved it. I was really looking forward to taking to the water again and reliving the exhilaration I used to feel when having lessons with school at South Cerney. I also love kayaking and have done that many times since but the opportunity to windsurfing has not come up. I haven’t really done it since a holiday in France aged 18 but thought it wouldn’t be too hard to pick it up again.
I was wrong!
I really struggled as my feet are not as agile as they once were, my arms not as a strong and I clearly have no core strength anymore! However I still loved it and enjoyed having a go. I would like to say I took to it like a natural but I didn’t and I limped away after my lesson and realised that after falling off rather spectacularly that I had hurt my foot. When the cocktails didn’t take away the pain I realised I had probably pulled a muscle. I kept going through the holiday even going out kayaking with Erin. I was gutted not to be able to try paddle boarding but seeing as standing on the ground was painful there was no way I could stand at sea. Long story short I went to A&E once back home and as I expected I have a chunk of bone missing from my fifth metatarsal and I’m sporting crutches! I was worried about being cast as I have another holiday coming up and will be flying. Thankfully lots of rest should have me healed in no time.
However I do have these gorgeous photos to show that I did indeed have a go!
