I have been able to head to London for a few events recently and there was one that I certainly wanted to attend. I wrote recently that I wanted too really empower girls more and to encourage them to not be boxed and stereotyped but to be just what they want to be. Therefore when I was invited to a very special #getcomfortable event being held in a stunning location I was on that train and heading into London.
The day was to focus on being body confident and relaxed and we were invited enjoy a variety of activities based around female comfort by canesten. We also had a presentation from Judy James who is a well known communication and body languange expert. Judy talked to us about how to use body language to be confident and feel comfortable. I found this fascinating as I do like some psychology and have an interest both in psychology and sociology, as I listened I took away a few tips. I know I fidget too much when I am felling vulnerable and I definitely shrink myself as opposed to standing confidently. The one tip I am focussing on is using my arms better and not folding them when I am inn public!
The event gave me the opportunity to make a candle using different fragrances which was great. I have never made candles before and got quite excited that mine looked so good.
I am not body confident and the day included having a photoshoot but it was brilliant. The photographer was amazing and instantly helped me relax before taking some shots. All of the photo’s in this post are from Kris Atomic @theaptmt and Kris is on Instagram as @krisatomic she took such stunning photo’s and I can only say thank you!
We were also treated to a neck and shoulder massage and as usual the therapist who worked her magic commented that my shoulders were very tight. That didn’t surprise me as although I have monthly sports massages I am very knotty each time. The therapist was great and I could easily have snoozed in the bed in the apartment afterwards.
What I learnt (or re remembered) from the event was that it is important to look after yourself. As a mum or busy woman it is easy to put everyone else’s needs before your own. However we need to look after our own emotional health and well being. We may take care of our physical health but how many of us feel guilty when we want or need some time out for our emotional well being. Whether that be a massage, a spa day or reading a book in peace and quiet. It can be hard to carve out that time but it is something that everyone needs.
I left the Apartment with a renewed vigour and spring in my step. I took away a goody bag that included some books I have been dipping into whilst travelling about and I have vowed to look after myself that little bit more.
Thanks Canestan for the pampering and making us think about how we can #getcomfortable.
Sharing is caring!

Sounds like a lovely time! The neck and shoulder massage especially sounds lovely, I could use one of those before, I bet I’m all knotty too.
Great post and I LOVE that cushion 🙂
The cushion was quickly nabbed by my teen daughter!
Sounds like a lovely day. It’s nice to see someone talking about products and companies that are used hush hush because people are embarrassed to talk about it.
Exactly and in such a wonderful and empowering way.

It’s true, we really should take some ‘me’ time on occasion. I’m glad you had a lovely pamper and massage. Well, actually, I’m jealous haha! X
Sounds like an amazing event to be part of (especially getting to meet Judy James – I love Big Brother). It is so easy to be down on ourselves and our body image so it is good to see a campaign that is aiming to change that.
