Pamper Day at Home
Why have a spa day at home?
You might not be able to escape to a real-life spa retreat (like Tortworth Court Spa Day) any time soon but, armed with my free printable to plan a home pamper day you can certainly transform a corner of your home into a makeshift spa, indulging in DIY facials with essential oils, skin-softening soaks, and a blissful night’s sleep that the whole family will enjoy.
Secondly even if we can get out to visit spas they can be an expensive day out, therefore using these home spa treatments it is more cost effective and ideal for the whole family. Alternatively invite your girlfriends around and have a home spa day followed by movies and prosecco in your dressing gowns! It will be a great way to unwind and destress from working life!
Families have been getting really creative in planning themed days at home during the past few months and today I am sharing my fun idea on how to have a luxurious pamper day at home. Even as lockdown lifts we will still be spending lots of time at home this summer and therefore finding ways to relax and restore is very important.
How to recreate a spa day at home?
My pro tip is that preparation is the key to organising a lovely relaxing pamper day at home. Set the scene by clearing out a room that you will use for your spa. If you have an essential oil diffuser get it set up as it helps set the ambiance of the room. You could even make some invitations and to invite your kids to the pamper day.
Plan a light lunch with some afternoon tea sandwiches and get some healthy foods in, lots of fruit works well. Prepare a pitcher of water, you can add slices of fruit to flavour the water. Most of us don’t drink enough so its a good excuse to drink and hydrate. Mums might want a glass of prosecco too!
The weather is set to become lovely and warm again which encourages us to be outside in our gardens. Over the past few years, there has been a huge boom in people buying big padding pools or hot tubs. This would be a great start to having a spa day, you will be able then to have some home pamper treatments which you do on yourself.
If its a bit colder and you can’t stretch to a hot tub, then you could hire one for a treat or even running yourself a hot bath is a good start.
Make sure everyone has some loungewear or fluffy dressing gowns to recreate the chilled atmosphere you can a find a great roundup of hooded blankets here. Think lots of snuggly blankets if you want to sit in the garden after using a hot tub or pool.
Make a great playlist of relaxing music that will be playing quietly in the background. There are some great mixes on Amazon Music who have some great offers to try their music at the moment, search spa music for inspiration.
Home Spa Day Ideas
Start your relaxing day with a warm bath and add a handful of epsom salts which helps sore muscles and is safe for children, teens and adults alike. Others prefer milk baths or a bath bomb but whatever you choose it is a great way to prepare for your DIY spa treatments. Make sure that you have a warm towel ready to wrap up in after the bath.
After a bath is the ideal time for a massage, you could do a shoulder massage and use a massage oil . If you haven’t given a massage before, just start off rubblng in a circular motion. Slather yourself in a body butter for a real skincare treat afterwards
Pamper sessions often include facials, body scrubs or pedicures and manicures. Create a pedicure station, start with filling a bowl with warm water before you start and have a foot soak this softens your feet ready for a pedicure. You can paint each others toes. They leave you feeling relaxed and restored but you can recreate this at home. It is also a lovely treat to do for your kids and will help them relax.
Secondly painting nails is a lovely thing to do for children and they often feel really special afterwards. Soak their hands in warm water, give them a little massage with some coconut oil from the kitchen and use some nice hand cream. With all the extra washing hands at the minute this little treat is lovely and our hands will certainly benefit and help you take care of your nails.
Next try a home facial and relaxing face massage. Start off by thoroughly cleansing your face, I recommend a facial oil and really letting it sink into the layers. Add a DIY face masks, you can make your own using natural ingredients. If you don’t have face scrubs or masks lots of kitchen products work very well, like my homemade face treatments.
Once you have had a facial it helps remove dead skin cells. Let me know which one you tried and liked. If you have a jade roller now is the time to get it out and use it, it is a centuries-old Chinese skincare tool that has found popularity in recent years, the benefits are that it boosts circulation and rejuventates the skin.
Don’t forget the cucumber slices for an eye treatment, sit back with your hair tied up and add cucumber to cool the tired eyes. Again we have all been on devices more than normal so this is a good idea for a nice refreshing spa-like experience or treat after online working.
Our hair is often neglected therefore if you are having your own DIY spa day invest in a hair mask I recommend the Opalex Number8.
